From Michael Scott to Dwight Schrute - The Watches of The Office

When someone is curious about the watches worn in a television show, they generally will look to a peak television show like The Sopranos. The Office would likely not be at the top of that list (not because it isn’t great, it is. But because it’s a sitcom). But here we are. Surprisingly, there is no dearth of watches featured in The Office. Though the timepieces featured might not be the most expensive pieces, it is interesting to see what our favorite Dunder Mifflin employees wore.

Michael Scott

Michael Scott, portrayed by Steve Carell, is known to be a bit of a goof. Additionally, he is apparently the proud owner of a “Seyko” as he has his certificate proudly framed on the wall behind him. It is not known whether the writers of The Office were playfully shouting out Seiko with this move or whether Michael was taken in to buy a fake Seiko and displayed this blunder on his wall (either seems plausible to me) - blissfully unaware.

While Michael may be a “proud Seyko owner” he doesn’t wear one on the show. Instead, Michael Scott is often seen wearing a Timex Perpetual Calendar.

Interestingly, Steve Carell bought the whole cast of The Office Rolexes when he left the show. “When Steve left The Office, he gave everybody a Rolex watch. I still wear it. It reminds of me that amazing experience,” Kate Flannery, who played Meredith Palmer, told Yahoo during an interview.

Dwight Schrute

Dwight Schrute, portrayed by Rainn Wilson, was a Dunder Mifflin salesman, and Assistant to the Regional Manager. Schrute was also known for his rivalry with fellow salesman Jim Halpert. Dwight could regularly be seen wearing a Casio calculator watch, the exact model being a Casio Telememo 30 Data Bank.

Jim Halpert

Jim Halpert, portrayed by John Krasisnki, was a Dunder Mifflin salesman, who married Pam Beasley and loved to play pranks on Dwight Schrute.

Jim memorably dressed up as Dwight for Halloween and managed to put together a very believable costume. He did not, however, get Dwight’s watch exactly correct. While he got the brand correct, Jim wore a Casio E Data Bank Ref. EDB610-1C. This piece seems to be a little more technologically advanced than the version Dwight wore.

Jim also regularly wore a watch, a very classic Victorinox Swiss Army “Men’s Infantry” watch.

Andy Bernard

Andy Bernard, portrayed by Ed Helms, was a salesman at the Stamford branch of Dunder Mifflin before moving to Scranton after the merger of the two branches. Known for his preppy style, constant references to his alma mater Cornell, and his propensity to break out in song, Bernard became a fan favorite character.

Andy also wore a watch, though a rare watch made by fly fishing, hunting and sporting goods store Orvis. Bernard’s watch was an Orvis Signature Field Watch. The exact model does not appear to be in production any more. Surprisingly, the photo below was one of the very few photos of this watch that I could find across the internet.

Darryl Philbin

Darryl Philbin, portrayed by Craig Robinson, was the foreman for the Dunder Mifflin Scranton warehouse. He was eventually promoted, earning his own office before leaving to become Athleap’s V.P. of Athlete Relations.

Darryl can be seen wearing a fairly simple unbranded digital watch. Upon my research, I am fairly confident it is an unbranded variation or cheap copy of the already inexpensive Timex Ironman Triathlon. This watch is great for an athlete who needs to record times through a stopwatch.

Robert California

I know many (most?) of you may not want me to to do a watch identification of Robert California (James Spader), the eventual replacement of Michael Scott (though he was technically the CEO of Dunder Mifflin Sabre, convincing Jo Bennett to appoint him CEO in her place).

California is the only member of Dunder Mifflin Sabre who wears a luxury timepiece. He is seen throughout his time wearing a Rolex Datejust with silver or white dial. It looks like it is a model from the mid to late 1990s but it is hard to tell for sure.
