IWC Releases a Trio of New Ceratanium Watches
IWC has been releasing some very cool ceramic pieces in the last couple of months. We’ve seen the Inspiration 4 Pilot’s Chronograph become a huge hit, despite its limited availability, and the recent Blue Ceramic Pilot has showcased the brands obvious expansion to its overall material offerings. Yesterday, the brand released three new models to its hybrid ceramic-titanium case material - The TOP GUN Timezoner, Double Chronograph, and Perpetual Calendar.
The TOP GUN Timezoner Ceratanium (ref IW395505)
We will start with the Timezoner model. Measuring in at 46mm x 15mm, the Timezoner offers an oversized pilot case with clear visibility. The overall aesthetic is fairly stealthy and under the radar - though, very legible. The bezel features distinct city locations for the 24-hour time display located beneath 12 o’ clock.
Inside the Timezoner Top Gun is the in-house IWC Calibre 82760. The 284 component automatic movement features 22 Jewels, a 60-hour power reserve, and beats at 4-Hz.
Price for the Timezoner will run $16,900 USD.
The TOP GUN Double ChronogRaph Ceratanium (ref IW371815)
The “Double Chronograph” is a split second chronograph with a reset pusher at 10 o’ clock. This is something that the brand is arguably know for being the forefront of in the Pilot watch space. The watch measures in at 44mm x 16.5mm and features the same Ceratanium case material with a 60 meter water resistance. The second Chronograph hand features a painted red tip so the function is simple to use, and difficult to lose amongst the all-black aesthetic (even the pusher features a red ring to match).
Inside the Doible Chronograph is the in-house IWC Calibre 79420. The 247 component automatic movement beats at 4-Hz, features a 44-hour power reserve, and 25 Jewels.
Price for the TOP GUN Double Chronograph is $14,600 USD.
The TOP GUN Perpetual calendar Ceratanium (ref IW503604)
Of the three, the Perpetual Calendar is my favorite - hands down. I’ve always been a fan of how IWC has produced an often complicated and difficult to display Perpetual Calendar in a Pilots watch. The Top Gun Perpetual Calendar is the only of the trio to feature a Ceratanium bracelet - and I’m a big fan.
The case measures in at 46.2mm x 15.4mm and features a water resistance of 60 meters. The dial features four subdials. A moonphase, a date and power reserve indicator ( with the former being inside the second ring of the sub-dial), a month indicator, and a day and second indicator - in addition, of course, to the time.
Inside the Perpetual Calendar is the In-House IWC Calibre 52615. The 386 component automatic movement beats at 4-Hz, features a whopping 168-hour power reserve, and 54 Jewels.
Price for the Top Gun Perpetual Calendar is $48,000 USD.
