Tag Heuer’s Three-Hand Carrera is… New?

This week Tag Heuer has played around on social media about some movement to the brands Carrera Collection. First, came the announcement that they have an brand new Ambassador - None other than the man in the Scorpion Jacket - Ryan Gosling.

Second came an announcement that they are releasing an all new subset of watches to their Carrera Collection, and they’ll be of the non-Chronograph variety traditional to the Carrera. There will be a time-and-date model, a day-date model, and a twin-time GMT.

THE JUICE:

This was a surprising release for Tag Heuer - for me anyway. The Carrera Collection has largely been rooted in the chronograph complication (okay, except that weird time in the 90’s) so to see some more toned-down reserved additions to the collection is welcomed.

As mentioned earlier, there will be three models available - a Time-and-date model, a Day-Date model, and a Twin-Time GMT model. There are multiple configurations for each, totally about 13-ish new watches added with the rose gold indices options. Of the three overall models, I find the Twin Time most appealing.

The sporty models definitely fill their own space. Each one could be paired up with a suit or a t-shirt. I can already hear the woes of enthusiasts claiming that the Carrera needs to be a Chronograph for “historical” reasons. Normally I’d entertain that argument because these don’t really feel like Carreras - they almost fit into their own steel sport watch category of Tag’s catalogue.

But the reality is these will be successful for the brand. They’re relatively affordable, clean, and of course, available. I’ll let that last part speak for itself.

How much is the Tag Heuer Carrera 3-Hand Watch?

The Time-and-Date model will run $2,700. The day-Date model will run $2,900. The Twin-Time GMT Model will run $3,200. It seems that to add the red gold indices will run an additional $200 across each model.
