New Green Dial Patek Philippe 5711

Well, it finally happened. Patek Philippe discontinued the Nautilus 5711. Except not really. In 2021 we got a confirmation that Patek Philppe planned to discontinue their flagship 5711 at an undisclosed time. Though, non-specific, it appears that they’ve discontinued production on the blue dial version of the Nautilus in-leu of the more recently on-brand olive green dial they’ve previously introduced in the white gold Aquanaut 5168G.

THE JUICE:

Let’s be honest, it’s highly unlikely that any of us are going to get our hands on this watch. In fact, I’d be willing to admit that most of us will only get to view this watch behind a glass - If we can find one at all. Considering the recent controversy of the first green dial Nautilus to make it to auction sold for over $470,000 with buyers fees, it’s become quite the talk of the industry - despite the notorious elusiveness of the actual model itself.

Overall, Patek’s second green dial venture is destined to succeed. At this point, the brand has a basic impossibility for failure with any Nautilus they release. And they know that. There’s a comfort here for them that many brands in the space don’t get to enjoy. It’s a luxury really only shared by Rolex as well.

Despite all that (and realistically we could have 6 seasons and a movie on the state of luxury steel sports watches in the industry), we all know if the opportunity would arise, we’d jump on the ability to scoop one of these up. While only a fraction of a fraction of a percent of us will actually be able to, really, even find one, it’s fun for us all to dream.
