Hublot Unveils "New" Mediterranean Sea Boutique Collections
Once upon a time in a Galaxy far far away, you are getting ready for your next Redbar event and you are looking through your extensive collection, Rolex, Patek a Zenith or two, a smattering of IWC and some independants and Hublot…. You reach for the Hublot.
Yup fantasy, but why? Why do enthusiasts take against Hublot and for that matter Tag Heuer? There probably is no good general reason and this is not the article for exploring it, but it is the article for introducing the new Hublot Mediterranean Sea Boutique Collections

The Juice:
I think it is fair to say that this new collection will not change many enthusiasts minds that are already set against the brand, but - Hublot doesn’t care, and probably never will. What we have here is watches being released specifically to a new series of boutiques opening across the Mediterranean with each new store offering its own limited edition piece.
These watches have such potential to be a really nice addition to a collection - and the Bodrum model in particular could even be a regular casual wearer. Their summery vibes really work and I can genuinely imagine the watches being worn around the streets, beaches and of course nightclubs of their namesake venues.
It is almost as if the Club 18 to 30 group within the design department at Hublot decided to order the clear case backs. When they arrived, the more senior members of the team thought again about the visibility of a fairly standard Chronograph movement and handed it back to the team to “sort out the problem”. So that’s exactly what Club 18 -30 did by slapping on a location sticker.
If you chose to run with it you will need to hunt these down at the specific resort boutiques when you are next on holiday, (Foreign Holidays Remember them!?!) an almost Hodinkee Travel Clock level of timing.
Would I wear these? Yes. In particular the Bodrum, which also has the least offensive case back alteration. Would I buy one with my money? Nope. I find there to be far better summery options out there without the rear case calamity - especially in this price range. Look to any new Doxa release for a cheaper alternative. Would I buy one with your money? Of course. These would make a great, very occasional summer wear, maybe to a club 18-30 reunion meetup!
