THE JUICE:

The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar has come in numerous variations, all with different materials. There’s a steel (which this most closely resembles), gold, and even a Ceramic version of the Perpetual Calendar. While this isn’t the first Titanium Perpetual Calendar the brand has produced (A Japanese version with a salmon-esque dial was released earlier this year), it is the first designed exclusively for the U.S. Market (allegedly).

The AP Perpetual Calendar is hands down a fan favorite for the brand. In fact, it’s one of the most widely sought models of the Royal Oak. To break it down, this complication includes - Time, Day, Date, Week, Month, Year - including accounting for leap years, and moonphase. There are a lot of well done Perpetual Calendars, but Royal Oak has seemingly done one of the better jobs of creating a coherrent way of displaying it.

The Blue “Grand Tapisserie” dial plate, with offset grey subdials and applied stick indices makes it really easy to gather a monolith of information at a glance. Typically, I would be turned off by a differentiated blue moonphase against a blue dial, but in this case, it’s recessed enough to be coherrent.

When paired with the often difficult to finish Titanium Royal Oak case, this watch simply works. And since it’s such a limited run, this will be gone before anyone actually gets to a boutique to pick one up. If you’re in the market for a Perpetual Calendar, and the Royal Oak tickles your fancy, make sure to head on over to Audemars Piguet website and get your appointment in now.

How much is the Audemars Piguet Perpetual Calendar Royal Oak in Titanium?

The watch will be limited to 88 pieces, and come with a price tag of $80,000 USD.
