Finally - The Vacheron Constantin ‘Everest’ Overseas Chronograph & Dual Time

2019 marked National Geographic’s Cory Richardson’s pretty epic trek up Mount Everest. To mark the occasion, Vacheron Constantin created a titanium Overseas with special modifications for the journey. This included some special materials for the bezel, and different technology for the pusher buffers to combat the harsh conditions of a Mount Everest climb.

Since then, enthusiasts have been asking when the watch is going to be released - If it’s going to be released. Well? Here it is - Kinda. The Vacheron Constantin Overseas ‘Everest’ Dual Time. Also, a bonus Chronograph model to compliment.

The Juice:

The Overseas ‘Everest’ first came into the scene in 2019 on Cory Richardson’s third attempt at climbing Mount Everest. The famous Mountaineer and photographer for National Geographic wore a prototype Dual Time ‘Everest’ that, interestingly, Vacheron Constantin wasn’t exactly quick to admit their hand in. The rumor is that’s because they were still tweaking some features (listed above), and aesthetics that eventually became this watch - and it’s subsequent little bother, the Chronograph ‘Everest’.

The first noticeable feature of the watch is the dial. Different from the original prototype, both watches feature a Blue-Gray colored rough stamped dial that I find quite unique. The deep texture feels rugged and more “tool-y” than a typical climbing watch, and gives the watch an overall mountain man aesthetic. The orange indicators on both watches, including the Chronograph hand, GMT hand, and Power Reserve Indicator add a pop of color sure to stick out in limited visibility environments.

Flipping the watch over you’ll find the 5110 and 5200 in-house movements respectively. Both movements feature a unique solid gold rotor deeply etched with a depiction of Mount Everest. A cool addition is the well decorated bridges and plates treated with a dark grey NAC treatment.

Overall this watch is really cool - if not significantly more price-y than the traditional Overseas, and ultra limited. Though, you can rest-assured that by the time you’re reading this article, the watch will already be sold out, and listed on chrono24 at an even steeper premium. This isn’t because of the speed of publication, but rather how limited these watches are, and the quick release from Vacheron Constantin on this. But that will be an article for another day.

How much is the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph & Dual Time ‘Everest’ Limited Edition?
These watches will be limited to 150 pieces and fetch a price of $37,000 for the Chronograph, and $31,400 for the Dual Time. Both of those prices are a significant premium over the brands other Overseas options on a bracelet.

NOTE: Apparently that didn’t matter cause these watches sold out already.
