Panerai Introduces an All-New Submersible - The S Brabus Black Ops Edition in Carbotech
This week, Officine Panerai hits two big hot-button items for their collections with one watch. THE JUICE:
This is the first collaboration between Panerai and BRABUS Marine, and I’ll come out the gate and say I’m a huge fan - though this is a seriously large watch. Brabus is known for it’s tactical design day-boats. One of the more interesting design languages of the builders is the idea that this really is a style that works.
“When put side by side, the similarities in regard to design language and overall character of the Panerai Submersible and the BRABUS Marine line of dayboats are obvious and striking. Both are made to be functional and stylish tools for life in the marine environment and therefore this combination just makes sense”
-Constantin Buschmann, CEO and owner of BRABUS.
And I have to agree here. While, I do have my own personal issues with Carbotech and the frustrating (at best) experiences I’ve had with maintaining the material, from a stylistic standpoint, every part of this model simply makes sense.
The watch measures in at a whopping 47mm. And with the crownguard, it’ll feel a bit larger on the wrist - So watch out for doorframes. The more “Tactical” black and red accents match BRABUS’ design language and the skeletonized dial needs it. The dial is a bit busy, and the red accents help accentuate the parts of hte watch that are directly necessary to view at a glance.
The watch itself fits a dizzying amount of details on the dial. Obviously, you have the time, but you also have a date, am/pm indicator, and GMT timezone - in addition to the markers on the uni-directional Carbotech bezel.
The Panerai P.4001/S movement through the sapphire case-back continues the black and red tactical aesthetic. Featuring some anthracite treatment on the bridges, the twin-barrel movement features a 72-hour power reserve, and a unique Tungsten micro-rotor. The movement also displays the 3-day power reserve indicator and hacking seconds mechanism.
The included parasail strap features some BRABUS branding and hand-stitched cross pattern designs. It also features a rubber underbelly for comfort.
Panerai seems to be ramping up releases into it’s Carbotech Collecation. We recently saw the release of another Carbotech Marina Blue Notte just a couple of weeks ago. The S Brabus Black Ops is certainly a watch for the bold. It’s huge, features a less reserved design language, and significant branding. I recognize that this watch won’t be for everyone, but I find it pretty dang cool.
How much is the new Panerai S Brabus Black Ops Edition in Carbotech?
