MB&F Release the Watch Industry’s First Catalogue Raisonné
Typically reserved for art (and let’s face it, MB&F is well within that realm) a “Catalogue Raisonné” is a comprehensive guide to every fine detail of an artists work. It typically features every known piece linked to a particular artist or Maison, and often finds it’s way into reference books and accordance’s for anyone seeking info on it. For the first time, to my knowledge anyway, we are seeing a Catalogue Raisonné released for a watch brand - and a brand who would definitely benefit from it. Introducing MB&F: The First Fifteen Years.
If ever an independent brand needed a comprehensive guide to their work, it’s MB&F. The Haute-Horology Heavy Hitters (say that fast) have a dizzying array of references, movements, and behind-the-scene information that could truly use an in-depth dive into the stories and history of what drives the futuristic design language of brand. Also, apparently, there is a ton of rarely-seen and never-released information about each individual reference.
The book will feature 312 pages of information regarding each specific reference from MB&F - 160 to be exact. It documents how many were produced of each piece, along with emote nuanced information like how many years each piece was in production, and what materials specifically were use. The book is chocked-full of all the technical specs an enthusiast couple possibly desire of the brand. Additionally, the book will contain images of never-before-seen prototypes and bespoke pieces.
Further, the first 30-pages of the book feature an in-depth history of MB&F from our fan-favorite watch writer - Suzanne Wong.
The book will be limited to 2000 pieces, but only 500 will actually be up for sale through Editions de La Martinière distribution channels. The rest of the 1500 are solely for the brand and it’s many partners. So enthusiasts looking to secure a copy need to act fast and pre-order through the brands order page now. The book is scheduled to be ready in October 2022 and come with a retail price of $170 USD.
