The All-New Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic Skeleton 39mm
As a little mid-week pick-me-up, Maurice Lacroix has unveiled an all-new steel model, this time in 39mm. The brand-new Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic Skeleton 39mm keeps along with the trend of sizing down models - A trend that we at Wrist Enthusiast are a huge fan of. The watch features a brand new movement (said to be worked with Sellita) and is inspired by Urban Architecture.

THE JUICE:
Maurice Lacroix has always been a favorite of mine. In fact, I have bought 3 different Aikon’s over the course of my time collecting watches. I have the Original Aikon, a Vintage Aikon, and the Aikon Automatic Chronograph released a couple years ago. I have never ventured into their Skeleton Dial watches because I’ve found them to be on the larger side - Since they’re all 43mm+.
This Aikon however, fits neatly into the Aikon’s modestly sized portfolio. The brand accomplished this by having Sellita design a movement specifically for them, and dropping it into the 39mm Aikon case. This movement features custom bridges, finishings, and a special hollowed rotor for the brand.
What results is a complicated, yet coherent movement with some great finishing and a lovely design. Unlike some of the brand’s previous models, it’s easy to read despite the smaller package. Sellita did a lovely job with this movement, and the quality really shows.
As is standard for a lot of the newest Aikon’s, the watch will come on Maurice Lacroix’s quick-change 5-link Stainless Steel bracelet. As a longtime wearer of the Aikon myself, I can vouch for the comfort. It definitely punches way above it’s weight class.
The Aikon has had a solid start to the year. The release of the sustainable Aikon Tide Earlier this year (which takes bottles and converts them to watch cases) was a huge hit, and not the addition of a smaller Aikon Skeleton is definitely putting the Aikon on a lot of radars. I’ve always considered the Aikon to be amongst the premier “attainable” luxury steel sport watches, and this release is validation that Maurice Lacroix still holds that prize.
So, How much is the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic Skeleton 39mm?
This watch does not appear to be a limited addition, and comes with a fairly modest price tag of $3,370 USD.
