25 Best Watch Boxes and Cases From Affordable to Luxury
With the success of the WatchWrist Watch Stand Review, and the many of you who picked one up, we thought we’d share some of our favorite watch boxes and cases to round out your watch accessory collection.
Obviously, we Enthusiasts love to showcase the collection we’ve accrued. Sometimes that’s just on a simple watch stand (another guide will be coming from that) or sometimes it’s in a case. And even further, if we need to travel with our watches, we need a safe way to get them from point A to point B. So we’ve included some of our favorite display cases, as well as boxes and travel boxes to help you choose how you’ll like to display your watches, and how you can travel with them.
Holme & Hadfield Watch Deck
If you want to truly display your watches for all to see, the Holme & Hadfield Watch Deck is a good option for you. Coming in 3 colors (black, oak, and walnut), the watch case includes a display section for four watches with an acrylic transparent cover that will protect your watches from dust and the elements. In addition, the case has a pull-out drawer where you can store anything from additional watches to sunglasses or cuff links. At just under $85 USD on Amazon, the Holme & Hadfield watch deck is a great affordable option for those that want to stylishly display their timepieces.
Barton Bands 3 Watch Case
If you are like us at Wrist Enthusiast, you probably travel with multiple watches. Us enthusiasts need wristwear options even while vacationing. And when traveling, you need somewhere to safely store your watches in your carryon luggage. The Barton Bands 3 watch roll is a great option. The watch roll is made of premium recycled leather (for all of those eco-friendly enthusiasts) and allows you to travel with four watches (three in the case and one on your wrist of course). The watches are separated by dividers so you don’t have to worry about them scratching each other. At under $70 USD, the Barton watch roll is a great option. You can pick one up on Amazon in either black or tan.
Watch Winder Smith Two Watch Winder
Watch winders are watch displays that serve the additional function of keeping your automatic watches running even when you aren’t wearing them. A watch winder accomplishes this by occasionally rotating while the watches are in the display. Winders come in all shapes and sizes, and at all different price points (from affordable to very, very expensive). However, if you go too cheap on a winder, it might not last very long or be noisy when in use. One high quality but not too expensive winders is the Watch Winder Smith two watch winder. This simple to use winder is an attractive combination of bamboo and metal and protected by glass cover that hinges up and down. It’s a great show piece for those collectors that prefer not to spend thousands of dollars on a watch winder. You can pick one up on Amazon for $210 USD.
Leader Watch Winders 4 Watch Winder with Storage
If you are looking for a watch winder that has a lot of functionality, the Leader 4 Watch Winder and 5 Watch Storage is a great well-priced option. In addition to being able to wind 4 watches simultaneously, this winder has drawer storage for an additional 5 watches. The winder has 15 different preset winding programs and can customized from 650 to 1950 TPD (turns per day). The winder also has an LCD display an LED interior light to showcase your watches. The winder can also be run on battery or plugged. For $289 USD on Amazon, the Leader Watch Winder really provides a lot of bang for your buck.
Bosphorus Watch Winder Trunk
Bosphorus Leather is a high-end leather crafter out of Istanbul, Turkey that specializes is watch cases and rolls. Just looking at the detailing and leatherwork you can tell that these handmade pieces are a step up in quality. We love pretty much everything they make, including their Watch Rolls and Watch Cases with "Parchment Patina" pattern. The Parchment Patina Patter is similar to the "Scritto" pattern used by Berluti. There is a nice script etched into the faded leather. It adds a bit of elegence and uniqueness to many of Bosphorus' products.
Beyond their cases and rolls, one piece we really love from Bosphorus is their Watch Winder Trunk in Togo Dark Grey. In addition to having 3 watch winders, the trunk is largest enough to store Bosphorus' 3-section watch rolls in the hidden upper compartment. There is even space for storing other accessories (like your sunglasses, cuff links, rings, bracelets or anything else). The outside of the trunk is made from Togo leather while the inside is suede. It really is a beautiful solution for storing your watches. You can pick up the Bosphorus Watch Winder Trunk for 4,500 USD from Bosphorus’ website (it is currently on sale).
WOLF Heritage Double Watch Winder
Wolf 1834 has been making watch cases since, you guessed it, 1834. This family owned brand has a long history of making high quality watch cases and accessories ever since. We are particularly fond of the Wolf Heritage Double Watch Winder. This no frills watch winder comes in a faux leather case and rotates in a patented rotation program that includes intermittent rotation with pause and sleep phases pre-programmed. The cuffs that hold the two watches are designed to be a little larger and accommodate larger watches, something many winders and cases cannot do. You really get what you pay for with a Wolf winder. They are known to work well and be very quiet winders. The Wolf Heritage Double Watch Winder is currently available Amazon for $469 USD.
Rimowa Watch Case
When you think of very high-end luggage, you probably think of LVMH owned Rimowa. It also makes sense that Rimowa recently made their first foray into a travel watch case. Like their luggage, the Rimowa watch case is sleak, modern, metallic and expensive. The watch roll is made up of two main pieces. One that holds the three watches on their cushions and one the top. While the Rimowa case does not have a separator between the three watches it holds, each watch pillow is placed far enough from the adjacent cushion to avoid any unwanted scratching. While Rimowa’s larger luggage can range anywhere between $700 and $2,000 USD for a rolling carryon, the watch case is a limited edition. Because of that, this small watch case retails for a whopping $2,470 USD. The watch case is currently sold out though, and pieces are being offered on the secondary market at even higher prices.
Innocente 8 Plus
Some of our favorite watch cases are made in Australia by the eponymous David Innocente and his wife Tania Ingerson. There are so many custom pieces Innocente makes that we were hard-pressed to choose just one. However, one piece we really love is the 8 Plus. Aptly named because the case holds 8 watches, the Innocente 8 Plus brings minimalistic Scandinavian design aesthetics to watch storage. The case is made of American Black Walnut Wood with a powder-coated sheet metal and really is the perfect display case for your watches. The 8 Plus also has an additional compartment in the middle of the case to hold additional accessories. At 770 Australian Dollars (around $517 USD), the Innocente 8 Plus is not the cheapest watch case on our list. But with the custom handmade piece you receive, it’s well worth the price. You can check out Innocente’s full lineup at their website.
Louis Vuitton 8 Watch Case
If you are really looking to splurge on a watch case (and I mean really splurge), the Louis Vuitton 8 Watch Case is right up your ally. The LV watch case is designed to resemble one of Louis Vuitton’s classic travel trunks, but just a lot smaller and made to hold watches. Though the case is offered in multiple colorways, our favorite is the traditional Louis Vuitton Monogram. The watch case holds 8 watches and in addition to the individual watch cushions being removable, the whole tray the cushions sit in is removable as well. This makes the Louis Vuitton watch case more versatile as it can be used beyond just a watch case. I guess for $7,450 USD you might want to get a little additional functionality out of your watch case.
Brown Safe Chronos Watch Safes
If you are looking for an all-in-one solution to store your watches, protect them and wind them at home, Brown Safe Watch Safes is one of the leaders in the industry. These heavy duty safes will give you a piece of mind that nobody will get to your watches while you are away from home. In addition, the safes offer watch winding and additional storage. The Chronos line of safes are made from military-grade ballistic armor plate and have twelve large titanium locking bolts that remove door vulnerability (you can purchase safes without the ballistic armor). Brown Safe assures that their safes are “impervious to penetration attacks such as drilling, cutting, explosions, and fired projectiles”. Additionally, the Chronos line (though not all Brown Watch Safes) uses a biometric fingerprint technology to allow the owner access to their watches in an instant. Brown Watch Safes are offered in multiple sizes with a wide range of available features. They can range from $5,000 USD to over $30,000 USD.
Scully & Scully Saffiano Leather Watch Case
Scully & Scully is arguably known for their luxury-style gifts and collectibles. The family-owned business has been around since 1934 and deals in very high-end and handmade pieces. So naturally, their Saffiano Leather Watch Case is up there on our list of favorites. The case holds 10 watches in multiple layouts to ensure that they all fit. It’s actually a really cool way to store your watches, and not something you often see in a watch case. You can hold 5 in the lower tray, one in the catch-all, and 4 tucked away behind a flap on the top of the case. Because watches can come in different shapes and sizes, often they cant all fit on a pillow, or are too big or two loose to stay help against them. Offering a case that allows you to lay watches down is an awesome design. They cases come in multiple leather colors and feature a brass clasp with a key. Above all, they are handmade in Italy - As would be expected from Scully & Scully. All things considered, the case isn’t terribly expensive considering what you’re getting at only $475 USD.
Globe Trotter Caviar 12-Slot Watch Case
Another of our favorite luggage inspired cases is the Globe Trotter Cavier. This 12-slow watch case features one of our favorite vintage-inspired aesthetics when it comes to practical watch storage. The high-polish metallic finish of the case contrasts nicely with the leather accents. It features a plush interior that not only holds 12 watches, but also a catch-all for jewelry, cuff-links, a passport, or anything else someone might keep right alongside their watches. Obviously, it comes with a lock and key with a vintage leather handle to tie the whole thing together. Price for the Globe Trotter Caviar is $2,695 USD.
Goyard Double Travel Watch Case
While we have Louis Vuitton on the list, we would be remiss to not include Maison Goyard as well. We’d argue that Goyard is a close competitor to LV, while finding a bit of its own design language. Maison Goyard makes a really cool double watch case with a wrapping buckle that secures your watches nicely, and doesn’t take up too much space. It’s great for a quick weekend trip where you aren’t needing to carry around a trunk for all your watch selections. It comes in a variety of colors, but our favorite is the brands signature brown. Price for the Goyard Double Travel Watch Case is $2,250 USD.
Berluti Scritto Leather 3 Watch Case
Berluti is one of the more recognizable leather Maisons in the luxury industry. Arguably, we’d consider the Scritto Leather among the most lovely designs across the board. Thankfully, Berluti has created a 3 watch case in the design, so you can enjoy the pattern with your watches, even when you travel. The case obviously holds 3 watches in a luxury and padded pillow. A cool thing about the Scritto Leather 3, is that it’s got a zipper and is relatively small and easy to travel with. Price for the Berluti Scritto Leather 3 is $1,790 USD.
To The Hour Elements VI
While there are plenty of Pelican style watch cases on the market (The most popular being the bright Invicta colors), our favorite ruggedized Pelican case is the To the Hour Elements VI. It’s IP67-treated box is filled with hard foam, and comes with two different kinds of pillows - A set of hard Pillows, and a set of soft pillows that can be interchanged depending on the watch. The case itself is pretty much indestructible and really is designed for any kind of environment. It also has a helium release valve in case you find yourself on the bottom of the ocean with your watches. And the best part about it, is it’s not terribly expensive at just $106 USD.
Rapport London Cambridge Watch Winder Trunk
Louis Vuitton isn’t the only one creating high end watch trunks. Rapport, based out of London, specializes in watch cases, trunks and rolls. The Cambridge Watch Winder Trunk is the brand’s most premium offering. Inside the Trunk, which completely opens up, are two EVOLUTION watch winders as well as two drawers to hold additional watches. The handcrafted trunk is is made of blue leather with gold detailing, giving it a fairly masculine look. As one of the larger watch cases on our list, it is also one of the more expensive. The Cambridge Watch Winder Trunk retails for $6,500 USD.
JQUEEN Security Lock Watch Winder Safe
If you are looking for a somewhat more affordable watch safe, the JQueen Security Lock Watch Winder Safe might be a good option for you. While we have already featured the top of the market Brown Safe, the size and price of those safes are probably not reasonable for most people. The JQueen Security Lock Watch Winder Safe is smaller for those of you that don’t want to dedicate a large area to protecting their watches. It also has 8 watch winders within the safe. This safe is compact enough to put on your night table (not that you would actually put it there). The JQueen Security Lock Watch Winder Safe retails for $2,159 USD.
Hide & Drink Leather Travel Watch Roll
Sometimes the simplest idea is the best solution. Well the Hide & Drink Leather Travel Watch Roll takes that idea and applies it to a watch roll. The roll is simply a (nice) piece of leather with four slots to put your watches in (though we suggest putting the case of the watches at the bottom so they don’t scratch). Then you just roll up the watch roll and tie it tight with the attached leather strap. What you end up with is perhaps the most compact way to store 4 watches. We have seen multiple brands sell similar types of rolls, made out of various different materials, but we think the one made by Hide & Drink is a winner. Plus, it will only cost you $33 USD on Amazon.
Bennett Winch Triple Watch Roll
If you are looking for a no frills but very high quality leather watch roll, the Bennett Winch Triple Watch Roll is a great option. A little different from many of the rolls currently on the market, the Bennett Winch Triple Watch Roll features a hexagonal shape with the three watch cushions separated by dividers for the watches’ protection. Bennett Winch uses only the highest quality materials, including Tuscan leather, a flexible Kevlar core, and Alcantara suede lining. Because of these materials, and the fact that each watch roll is handmade, you can be assured you are getting one of the highest quality watch rolls on the market. That quality comes with a high price-tag though. The Bennett Winch Triple Watch Roll retails for $895 USD.
Buben & Zorweg Traveller 2 Watch Case
We know that lot of high-end travel watch cases look extremely similar to one another. If you are looking for something a little more unconventional, we are big fans of the Buben & Zorweg Traveller 2 watch case. The German brand eschews the typical round watch case for something that almost looks automotive. The case uses a hard leather exterior to protect the watches inside and a special opening mechanism. It indeed has a unique aesthetic different from most other watch rolls on the market. There are additional variations of this roll that holds a single watch. The version for two watches retails for $440 USD.
QWatchBands 6 Watch Travel Case
While most of use are content traveling with just 3 watches, some collectors would still like to travel with even larger collections. The QWatchBands 6 Watch Travel Case will let you bring 6 watches with you. Some people may think “who needs six watches while on vacation” (well seven including the one on your wrist)? I would argue that you can never have enough watches with you. While the 6 Watch Travel Case is rather somewhat large. You probably aren’t getting this much storage in a smaller profile. Plus, the case is made of genuine leather and is well constructed. It is also relatively affordable at $168 USD on Amazon. If 6 watches is too much, you can also pick up their 3 watch case for $128 USD*.
Bamford Carbon Fibre Watch Roll
Bamford is most well known for their work customizing high-end watches (and more recently, customizing LVMH brand watches). But Bamford also creates a pretty nice Carbon Fiber watch roll. Originally made in aluminum, Bamford created a version of their popular watch roll in light and durable carbon fibre. The watch roll will hold 4 watches simultaneously on a cushion and provides great protection from the elements. Because of the cool factor of a carbon fiber watch roll, the Bamford Carbon Fibre Watch Roll is currently sold out. It retails for £1,375 (around $1,637 USD).
Shinola Watch Collector’s Box
Shinola may get a bad rap from some in the collectors’ community for their watches (though we would argue that some of their newer releases are actually pretty nice). But the Shinola Watch Collector’s Box is actually pretty nice. The watch box is crafted from oak and the 4 leather watch cushions are separated by dividers. Its a simple yet well made box to keep your watches in. The Shinola Watch Collector’s Box is available in Oak and Black and retails for $295 USD.
Kross Studio TIE Advanced X1 Watch Winder
Kross Studio has produced a slew of unique and super cool watch stands, winders, and cases in the past, and the nerd in all of us at Wrist Enthusiast really appreciates a little Star Wars influence in our luxury watch stands. The Kross Studio TIE Advanced x1 Watch Winder scratches that itch just about perfectly. The anodized Aluminum case is shaped into something recognizable for any Star Wars fan - Darth Vaders X1 Tie Fighter. Where the cockpit would be rests a winder to fit a single watch. This winder has a sensor that detects when a watch is there, optimizing it’s battery life to over 2 years. It’s unique, it’s fun, it panders to our inner-nerd, and be yours for $2,650 USD.
Forzieri White Inlaid Wood 10 Watch Box
When it comes to luxury, it’s hard to argue with the Forzieri Watch Box. It’s simply a beautiful piece of woodworking that holds up to 10 watches. The cool thing is that, while it does come with Pillows, you can also stow your watches in soft-lined square compartments to keep them safe, no matter the shape or size. They even keep additional compartments for jewelry and other fashion accessories, so it’s not just for watches - Something that we absolutely love. You can pick up the Forzieri White Inlaid 10 Watch Box for $1,555 USD.
