Release: Ferragamo F-80 Skeleton - Is Ferragamo Upping Their Watch Game
A more interesting release we’ve found this month is from the Italian Fashion House, Ferragamo. The brand is mostly known for its shoes and leather goods, though since they specialize in accessories, jewelry, high-fashion textiles, and… you guessed it - Watches. Ferragamo has had a long sustainability charter, and one of the things they do exceptionally well is use materials and processes to minimize their footprint in the environment. It’s something a lot a brands really have a hard time articulating, but also adhering to. Out of that commitment comes a new release from the brand into their F-80 Collection - The Ferragamo F-80 Skeleton.

THE JUICe:
The F-80 Collection isn’t a new collection to the Ferragamo brand, though mostly in the “fashion” watch sense, with lower-grade material and quartz movements. But this new leg is something we find really interesting because it’s a little different than most of the other fashion houses and their approach to watches. We’ve lately seen major brands like Louis Vuitton and Hermes release extraordinarily expensive segments into the luxury market, while Ferragamo has still mostly maintained its relative affordability with a fairly solid Swiss Made watch under for $2,200.
We recognize there’s a temptation to create ultra-expensive, ultra-high-end watches to protect the “Luxury” name, but we respect that Ferragamo has released a high-quality watch that really doesn’t break the bank.
The watch comes in two flavors, both “unisex”. The first is a navy style in a 41mm case with a matching blue strap, and the second is a pale pink they call “Amaretto”. Both feature a really nice foldover clasp and the brand’s signature screws at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock in rose gold. The skeleton dial is a fun configuration, with the movement being visible through the dial. Legibility is still there, though I do think the hands could be a bit longer.
Also, we appreciate the sustainability approach in the entire mix. Using a bio-ceramic case, an environmentally friendly poly strap, hyper-sustainable packaging, and a Swiss movement from another manufacturer who’s environmentally conscious is definitely a step in the right direction for luxury fashion houses, and we hope to see this continue into the future with both Ferragamo and other luxury brands.
Price for the Ferragamo F-80 Skeleton is $2,195 USD. You can learn more about the watch on the brand’s website.
