INTRODUCING: The Jaeger LeCoultre Duometre Chronograph Moon
Jaeger LeCoultre (JLC) is as storied a watchmaker as there is in the world - and one that has, historically, been an incredibly important pillar in the watmaking community as a whole. Besides being an industry leader in innovation, JLC has lent their watchmaking prowess to some of the titans of the industry. Having made movements for use by Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Cartier, and countless more, their fingerprints can be seen all over the history of fine Swiss watchmaking - earning them the nickname “the watchmaker’s watchmaker”. A large contributor to JLC’s success and recognition in the industry is due to their ability to produce highly complicated watches that exist happily in mind-numbingly slim cases. Their latest release for Watches & Wonders 2024 is no exception - The Duometre Chronograph Moon is a loaded offering.

THE JUICE:
Encased in either Pink Gold or Platinum, this chronograph from Jaeger LeCoultre is one of my favorite examples of capability meeting the aesthetic beauty of any release in the last few years. As we all expect from JLC, the cases are finished to absolute perfection. With tiny details like the the ribbed crown, stars adorning the moonphase’s night sky, and a very sleek day/night indicator in the form of a sun, wearers will not fall short on details to keep them enamored with this piece. Offered on alligator leather, wearers will get all of the refined dressiness that JLC is famous for - but the technical capability is what is really exciting.
The all new Calibre 391 movement from Jaeger LeCoultre is truly a technical wonder to behold. This manually wound split-second chronograph utilizes the groundbreaking Duometre system which splits power reserve of the timekeeping functions apart from the complications so that using the chronograph will not deplete or otherwise impact the power dedicated to timekeeping. With a power reserve display for both barrels, wearers always know where they stand between winds. This system has been in use by Jaeger LeCoultre since 2007, most notably in their chronograph movements. In addition to the bolstered precision of the timekeeping function, the chronograph also features a seconde foudroyant hand at six o’clock which completes a rotation once a second. This hand allows wearers to track the elapsed time of an event down the to the 1/6th of a second, in addition to the totalised counter at three o’clock displaying 60 minutes and 12 hours.
Jaeger LeCoultre have always been a master producer of complicated watches, and their newest Watches & Wonders 2024 release is no exception.
