Introducing the Louis Vuitton Tambour Convergence
As LVMH Watch Week 2025 kicks off, it is probably surprising to hear that this is Louis Vuitton’s first appearance as a brand at this event. Normally when we talk about a fashion brand making watches, we tend to think about the low-quality generic quartz-powered designs: you can rest assured, LV have taken a drastically different approach (as you’ve probably seen over the past 5-10 years). Known for their luxury fashion items and highly desirable accessories, Louis Vuitton entered high horology watch around 15 years ago and every year has been more impressive and exciting than the last. And this is definitely the case with the Tambour Convergence, which only increases the Louis Vuitton’s horological pedigree

The Tambour is Louis Vuitton’s biggest and widest collection, comprising a number of styles, purposes, and complications. In the collection you can find dive watches, integrated steel sports watches, and now this: the Tambour Convergence. This is an incredibly unique piece that embodies style and watchmaking expertise in a way only LV can.
Let’s start with the case…or is it the dial? Both? It' is probably too early to tell, but we’ll start with what we know. At 37mm LV are embracing a really accessible case size, that definitely responds to a couple of trends- they really seem to know the industry and their client-base like the back of their hand. Watches have been getting big, scarily big in some cases, especially when they house an exciting complication and many enthusiasts feel left out by the sizing. LV have really created something here that everyone can enjoy.
Blanking out the dial does one of two things. Firstly, it creates a smooth pebble-like shape that is so aesthetically pleasing it’s hard to look at anything else. Secondly, it draws all of your (remaining) attention to the time display at twelve o’clock. I’ll get into that in a bit. I can only imagine that wearing this watch will provoke two feelings: the feeling of constantly being watched (which you will be because this watch is so captivating and a bit of a UFO) and the feeling of utter dread anytime you go near anything that could scratch the watch, which is a totally valid feeling given the large shiny exposed surfaces of the design. The designers at LV have actually intended for this watch to get a little scratched, acting as a reminder of experiences and memories. Personally, I would still be a little nervous wearing it…
The calibre powering this watch is the MA01.01. made by the in-house experts at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, who have developed some really insane complications in recent years- keep your eyes peeled this week for some of their other master-pieces. The time display is both incredibly simple and complicated at the same. Two discs rotate independently and in different directions to converge at the twelve o’clock mark, telling the time. The reading of the time is almost instantaneous due to the focus created by the small aperture and the digits, but the mechanism and expertise behind all of this is excruciatingly complex.
On a watch like this the strap may seem like a bit of an after thought, but really it almost matters the most-a bad strap would ruin the watch. Louis Vuitton have gone for an incredibly subtle tone of brown/beige that complements pink gold perfectly, and as LV are known for their leather goods, we can rest assured that this will be of the highest quality.
Overall, this is a stunning release and a great way for Louis Vuitton Watches to kick-off 2025. We cannot wait to see what fabulous complications that will bring out in the future. If the pink gold variant isn’t quite bling enough for you, LV have also released a diamond encrusted platinum variant.
