21 Best Rectangle Watches - Rectangular Watches at all Price-Points

Rectangular Watches? Sure, why not? Watches come in all shapes and sizes. We’ve all seen the many MANY case shapes that tend to pop up when a brand gets a little eccentric with their case shapes. One of the most classic “abnormal” shapes we see across the industry is the rectangular case. We’ve seen thousands of models take on the elongated shape case in-leu of a more traditional round case. We see this happen for a few reasons - One, it’s simply a cool shape to see on the wrist. It’s functional, easy to read, and comfortable. Additionally, Rectangle watches, for the most part, tend to fall into dressier categories because it’s a classier option if you want something a little different.

So for this guide, we decided to tackle some of our favorite Rectangular Watches for our readers who love the idea of having something a little different, and a little bolder on their wrist. So let’s get cracking.

Cartier Tank Must

Cartier Tank Must

There are quite a few iconic rectangular watches that have been released over the years. But one of our absolute favorites is the Cartier Tank Must. Especially the more modern versions of the must are among some of the most “affordable” from the brand’s catalog. And since the Tank Must has a long history dating back to the 70’s, the Tank Must is one of the most recognizably Cartier watches on the market. And its steel variant is among its most accessible. Interestingly, the Must line of watches was designed and created to bring Cartier’s classiness to a much wider audience. And while the Tank Must is firmly rooted in the luxury segment, it’s also very well positioned in the everyday-man segment as well. It’s largely been adopted as a dress watch, but we feel it can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Thus, making it one of our favorite rectangular watches. You can find a Cartier Tank Must for around $2,900 USD.

Cartier Santos

The second Cartier on our list, is obviously the Santos de Cartier. The Santos has gone through a number of iterations and upgrades over the years, but the most recent has given the watch new ground to stand on in the luxury sport watch segment. In fact, we often find ourselves suggest the Santos to enthusiasts who want a proper steel sport watch, but can’t get their hands on a Royal Oak, or Nautilus or Overseas. For the most part, you can walk into a Cartier boutique and walk out with a Santos de Cartier - And that makes it quite a catch when you’re talking about steel sport watches from top-tier luxury brands. It’s also a bit unique because its rectangular shape is offset by round edges and a tapered bracelet, making it a little more contemporary and modern than something like a JLC Reverso. And once again, it can be dressed up, or dressed down. And overall, it’s a sleek and easy-to-wear watch. So naturally, it made our list. You can pick up a Cartier Santos for $6,800 USD.

JAEGER-LECOULTRE REVERSO TRIBUTE DUOFACE

Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface

Arguably the most recognized rectangular watch on the market is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. Designed for polo players, the watch is shaped in a way that allows the case and dial to be pulled out, flipped over, and fastened back to the case itself. This protected the crystal from the rough nature of Polo matches. On the more traditional models, a steel caseback would be on the flip side, but Jaeger-LeCoultre has a number of models that feature a unique “Duoface” dial. This creates two separate dials with the same movement, and allows the wearer to track two complete time-zones on one watch.

Each dial is uniquely it’s own, with a blue sunburst dial watch, and a white / silver watch. Both dials feature a running seconds hand at 6 o’ clock, and the white dial even features a day and night indicator at the bottom of the dial. Overall, it’s a really cool watch, and certainly can’t be ignored when talking about Rectangle watches. You can pick up the Jaeger-LeCoultre Tribute Duoface for $11,400 USD.

Vieren Black Croc Dial Watch

Vieren Black Croc Dial Watch

Vieren is a new-comer, but has made it’s mark in some of the more fashion forward circles of the watch community. One of our favorites here at Wrist Enthusiast is the Vieren Black Croc Dial. It boasts a number of features that check a lot of boxes for someone in search of a rectangular watch with good specs.

For starters, it features an automatic ETA movement at less than two grand. It also has some cool elements to it that we haven’t seen many other places. For starters, the crocodile strap comes in a really heavy black color that extends on to the dial itself. This gives the watch a really cohesive look, and contrasts nicely with the applied silver indices. The polished case gives it a sharp, dressier look that we really appreciate. You can pick up the Vieren Black Croc for $1,950 USD from their website.

Casio AQ-230A

Casio AQ-230A

We would argue that the Casio AQ-230A may be one of the most classic affordable watches on the rectangular case shape market. The AQ-230A has the unique feature of telling the time two different ways - One digital, and one analog. Surprisingly, the bracelet is comfortable, which is rare for a Timex in this pricepoint. It’s also easy to swap out for a leather or a rubber strap. It’s also remarkably thin and wearable. It easily slides under the cuff and makes it easy to dress up or down. It also comes with a dizzying array of features that are controlled by the pushers at 8 and 10 o’clock, as well as 3 o’ clock. It has an alarm, a stopwatch, a date display, an alarm, and a light so you can read it at night. Overall, for an affordable option, you can pick up the Casio AQ-230A on Amazon for only $50 USD.

Hamilton American Classic

Hamilton American Classic

The Hamilton American Classic takes a lot of inspiration from the watches of the 50s and 60s. It’s rectangular case shape is very reminiscent of the classic American dress watches, and the black leather strap really makes it a firm contender for a night out. As far as the luxury watch space is concerned, the Hamilton American Classic can’t be beat at only $659 USD on Amazon.

Oris Rectangular

Oris Rectangular

One of our favorite releases this year is the Oris Rectangular. While you can read our full write-up on this watch here, we found that it fit a niche that would have felt outside of Oris’ comfort zone, but surprisingly didn’t. The brand is known for its very designated tool watches, so to see the brand branch out into a Rectangular dress watch feels fresh, and we love that about it.

The watch comes in a variety of fun colors, but our favorite is Navy Blue. Oris simply has a penchant for making really nice blue dials. The matching leather strap and relatively thin profile make this an everyday watch for those who dress up for work. And really, you get a lot of watch for the money. You can get the Oris Rectangular for $1,950 USD on Oris' website.

Bulova Frank Sinatra My Way Watch

Bulova Frank Sinatra My Way Watch

There’s no doubt that Frank Sinatra has left his mark on that blatant Manhattan influence in fashion, and Bulova has done a fantastic job of replicating that brooding black and gold look with the Frank Sinatra “My Way” Watch. The watch just oozes Frank Sinatra swag, and we absolutely love it.

The dial has an old-world feel with an almost wooden texture as the dial plate. The applied indices and handset are polished gold, and the stainless steel case comes with a high polish as well. The strap is a soft black leather that really ties the entire model together. And as is standard with most of Bulova’s portfolio, the watch is actually fairly affordable at only $496 USD.

Rado True Square Automatic Open Heart

Rado True Square Automatic Open Heart

If you’re in the market for something more unique, and also something that packs a lot of punch for the dollars, look no further than the Rado True Square Automatic Open Heart. While the dial is the real star of the show, the watch boasts another unique feature that you don’t often find in watches of this price point - A full Ceramic case and bracelet.

The watch comes in a variety of colors, but we find the black ceramic with the blue dial to be quite charming. Obviously, this is a Skeleton watch, so you can see the movement through the dial plate that has been mostly hollowed out except for a series of bridges. The finishing of the movement is simply lovely, and despite all the components, it’s still quite legible. Which makes this a solid contender if you’re in the market for a Rectangle watch. Price for the True Square Automatic Open Heart is $2,550 USD.

Raymond Weil Toccata

Raymond Weil Toccata

The Raymond Weil Toccata is a classic watch that’s available at a reasonable price. The classic men’s dress watch features a high-polish case with black leather strap, and a really sleek white dial. It’s pretty uniformly designed to be a dress watch which, can often be par for the course with Rectangle watches. It does have a pretty Cartier look with the polished white dial and roman numerals. It is a clean and contemporary look, and that’s what we love about it. You can pick up the Raymond Weil Toccata for $695 USD.

Tag Heuer Monaco

TAG Heuer Monaco

One of the most iconic watches in the watch industry, the Tag Heuer Monaco is one of the most recognized watches in the world. It was made famous by Paul Newman in his famous film Le Mans. It became an instance classic, and catapulted the watch to the spotlight. It’s staple square-ish rectangular case typically comes with a blue dial and red racing accents, but Tag has also created it in a number of different variations over the years. It’s firmly rooted in the sport and racing world, but it can also be dressed up quite a bit. We’ve even seen The Rock sporting a Monaco recently, and if he loves it, so do we. You can pick up a Tag Heuer Monaco for just under $7,000 USD on Amazon.

H. Moser & Cie Swiss Alp Cosmic Green

H. Moser & CIe’s “Swiss Alp” collection has long been known for trolling the watch industry with some of it’s models. Can you tell why? The watch looks exactly like an Apple Watch, but it’s very much a mechanical work of art. The rectangular case is highly polished with barred lugs and it comes on a leather strap. As simple as the dial is, flipping the watch over gives you a showcase of the beautiful HMC 324 movement in all of it’s glory. Moser has always been fantastic for decoration, but the movement on this watch definitely shines and provides a lovely satirical look to the watch industry. Overall, we love it, it’s a funny little jab at the Apple Watch, and it’s simply a fun watch to exist. You can pick up one of the Swiss Alp Cosmic Green’s for around $26,000 USD.

Longines Dolcevita

Longines Dolcevita

The Longines Dolcevita is often overlooked when it comes to dressier case shapes and watches - Especially here in the United States. But the Dolcevita presents a great value proposition for anyone looking for a dress watch that doesn’t compromise on it’s vintage influence and doesn’t break the bank either.

The stainless steel watch features an elongated case with a shimmery and silver pantone dial. An added bonus is that this watch features an automatic movement, which can be rare for rectangle watches in this pricepoint. The crosshair configuration harkens back to many watches in the 50’s and 60’s. With “Dolce Vita” being an Italian phrase to remind the wearer of “The Sweetness of Life”. And we totally find this watch pretty sweet. You can pick up the Longines Dolcevita for $1,775 USD.

Richard Mille RM 016

Of course, what list would be complete without the Richard Mille RM 016 - Arguably the most famous rectangle watch the brand sells. Richard Mille has always been identified by their Tourneau style cases, but the RM 016 boxes it out, and flattens it into a rectangular configuration, without loosing it’s signature Richard Mille aesthetic. As is with most Richard Mille’s, the dial is skeletonized to showcase the Grade 5 Titanium, Aluminum, and Vanadiam movement baseplate the brand uses for it’s movement - The same material used in aviation and aeronautical spaces. Our favorite feature of the watch is the way the movement uses it’s date function - Look closely at the 7 o’clock indice and you’ll see a small window with a vertical date. Overall, while brooding, it’s a really cool watch that needed to be included. You can find the Richard Mille RM016 for around $110,000 USD.

Baume et Mercier Hampton 10528

Baume et Mercier doesn’t always get the most play when discussing heavy hitters in the industry, but the Hampton 10528 absolutely deserves recognition. The stainless steel case is a unique rectangular case in that it extends and the leather strap integrates flat into the lugs. The white dial features contrasting indices with a small seconds at 6 o’clock. It measures in 48mm x 31mm which makes it a bit on the larger side, but it’s certainly a wearable watch. Price for the Baume et Mercier Hampton 10528 is a modest $2,850 USD.

A. Lange & Söhne Cabaret Tourbillon Handwerkskunst

While the Zeitwerk and Datograph get the most talked about, A. Lange & Sohne released a little known rectangular watch that is one of the most complicated on the market. The Cabaret Tourbillon Handwerkskunst was only made in 30 pieces, but it left it’s mark on the industry, because it actually features some technological innovation around the Tourbillon. To fit the Tourbillon into a rectangular case, Lange had to create a V-Shaped Arresting spring for the Tourbillon, allowing for accuracy to one second. One of our favorite features of this watch is the dial. With multiple layers of white gold and enamel, the components of the dial almost feel like they’re floating and accentuate the etched Lozenge pattern and date function. The 3D effect also really draws on the Tourbillon, making the watch all-around beautiful. While they are extremely limited in number, they can be found for around $350,000 USD.

Hermes Cape Cod

If you’re looking for something more fashion-forward, then the Hermes Cape Cod may be right up your alley. Hermes is traditionally a leather goods manufacture, really being famous for their handbags, but they’ve also found a bit of a groove with the luxury watch market. The Cape Cod is fairly unassuming, but has a lot of thought into it from a fashion perspective. It’s case is rounded, but still rectangular, and (obviously) comes on an Hermes leather strap. The watch comes in a slew of different colors and strap options with the same care and quality you’d expect from a brand as prestigious as Hermes. So if you’re on a waitist for one of their bags, consider picking up a watch while you’re waiting. Price for the Hermes Cape Cod is $3,350 USD.

Minase 5 Windows VM03-L01BD

The Minase 5 Windows, we feel, is one of the cooler independent watch brands doing rectangular watches right now. The Japanese brand has been doing some really cool things with dials, and it’s been fun to see them expand into the less traditional case shapes. The Minase 5 Windows features something called a “Case-in-case” technology, which allows for many layers, or “Windows” to be on full display. Obviously there is the main watch case, then a sapphire crystal, an interior structure for the round dial, and of course, the movement. With these 5 layers, the more brooding aesthetic provides a really unique colorway to something that can be fairly monotonous. In a cute away at 4 o’clock, you can see a date ring on full display, another “Window” on the dial. You can pick up a Minase 5 Windows for around $3,500 USD.

Void V02MKII

In the ultra-affordable space, we find the Void V02MKII - a retro-cool take on the rectangular case. The V02 was launched in 2009 and designed to be “Clever, but not Smart” - a bit of a tongue-in-cheek nod to the peculiar way of determining the time.

The V02 uses 3 Compass-style hands that point to various values on the half-circle dial. You can tell the time by matching the hands to the jumbled value on the watch. For instance, the hour hand is white, and points to the white value on the dial to determine the hour, while the red hand points to a value to determine the minutes. Then, you have a black dial that jumps around to determine the seconds position. All things considered, it’s very interesting, and something different. And it won’t cost you a kidney at just $265 USD.

Albert Villa 1920's Petite Seconde

If the Great Gatsby ever designed a watch, it’d be the Albert Villa Petite Seconde. The very old-world Roaring Twenties inspiration is on full display right down to the gold and black-blue accents that feel right out of an old Manhattan penthouse. The Art Deco look brings out some really unique finishings. For starters the case is finished with some alternating angles that are reminiscent of the architectural finishings of the 20’s. The lines in the case metal intersect in such a way that the case feels like it’s glistening, even though it’s basically a frosted finish. The black enamel dial is finished with a champagne motif in the Art Deco style, and completing the ensemble is a black leather strap. Overall, it’s a stunningly beautiful watch that isn’t terrible expensive at around $500 USD.

ArtyA 3 Gongs Minute Repeater, Regulator, & Double Axis Tourbillon

ArtyA 3 Gongs Minute Repeater, Regulator, & Double Axis Tourbillon

The Artya 3 Gongs Minute Repeater, Regulator, & Double Axis Tourbillon is arguably one of the more complicated rectangular watches on our list. It’s also the only Minute Repeater - A notoriously complicated movement to put into a non-traditional case shape. In the case of Artya, they’ve packed a Regulator Dial (a configuration that splits the minute and hour hand into two separate sub-dials), a Double-Axis Tourbillon at 6 o’clock, as well as a Minute Repeater that utilizes 3 Gongs to chime the hour and minute. It also has a Sapphire “Cage” over the dial that gives the watch a large dome shape and accentuates the complicated dial. The PVD-coated case comes in a high polish with the rose-gold accents and it simply jives well. The watch comes with an equally steep price tag at around $500,000 USD.
