TAG Heuer Introduces 5 New Formula 1 Chronographs in Titanium
2024 was a big year for TAG Heuer and Formula 1. It began with the brand’s collaboration with Kith, introducing (or re-introducing) 10 retro-tastic quartz models, reminiscent of those created in the 80s and 90s. TAG followed that up with even bigger news, becoming the official partner of Formula (taking over for Rolex nonetheless). So I always expected LVMH Watch Week 2025 to feature at least something Formula 1-related. And TAG Heuer did not disappoint. Today, the brand unveiled five striking new additions to its Formula 1 collection, including a special edition created in collaboration with Oracle Red Bull Racing. These new models celebrate TAG Heuer’s rich heritage in motorsport, blending bold designs with cutting-edge materials and technical precision. Unlike previous variations of their automatic chronographs, these are made of titanium. And, I have to say, they look pretty good!

THE JUICE
First introduced in 1986, the Formula 1 collection marked a new chapter for TAG Heuer as its first watch to bear the TAG Heuer name. Beloved for its vibrant designs and approachable Swiss craftsmanship, it became a favorite among motorsport enthusiasts. With these new models, TAG Heuer reinforces its connection to the fast-paced world of Formula 1 while appealing to modern collectors. My first “luxury” Swiss watch was a TAG Heuer Formula, that I bought for myself in the mid-90s. I still own it today. That model was quartz, and these automatic pieces are definitely a worthy evolution.
The whole collection boasts vibrant accents inspired by night racing. The red, blue and lime green accents evoke the racetrack and racing, as well as callbacks to the funky colors we all love on the Formula 1 Series. But these are true, high-performance racing watches. They are light, fashioned from sandblasted or black, DLC-treated titanium, and supremely legible.
Additional features include aluminum tachymeter bezels, skeletonized hands, and colorful joints between the bezel and case. The Oracle Red Bull Racing Edition, in particular, stands out with a grade 2 titanium case and forged carbon tachymeter bezel. This model also has a blue opaline with checkered flag patterns and Oracle Red Bull Racing’s official colors. The caseback of this special edition is also engraved with the team and TAG Heuer logos.
Final Thoughts
Do I wish that TAG Heuer brought back the small, funky quartz Formula 1 Chronographs of yesteryear? As an owner myself, maybe a little. But if you look at the Formula 1 Chronograph collection prior to this release, every watch was quartz, except for a handful of pieces. This release brings the Formula One into the present, and does so in a way that adequately pays tribute to the past, while offering a sleeker, more modern design worth of the brand’s Formula 1 partnership. I mean, how could TAG Heuer not have an automatic Formula 1 Chronograph to kick-off the new partnership?
