14 Best Women's Watches Under $1,000
While most watch buying guides, especially watch buying guides for affordable watches, in the industry are catered toward men, there are actually a lot of great affordable watches for women. They don’t necessarily have to be designed only for women, although some are. There are many great unisex watches in the 34-36mm that are great options. In this list, I take a look at 14 of my favorite watches for women, all under $1,000 USD. From stainless steel tool/dive watches, to pilot’s watches, and even dress watches, this guide has a little bit of everything.
Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 35
Price: $695 USD; Case: Stainless Steel, 35mm; Water Resistance: 100m; Movement: Swiss Automatic; Crystal: Sapphire.
For the longest time, Tissot only offered automatic movements in the 40mm version of their very popular PRX stainless steel sport watch. Yes, the PRX in 35mm was available with a quartz movement, but for real collectors, an automatic movement is much more desirable. So small wrists and women rejoiced when Tissot released the PRX Powermatic 80 35 with automatic movement. With this variation of the PRX you get everything you love about the original, including the sleek design (that is reminiscent of the much more expensive Royal Oak) as well as the fun dial colors. And at $695 USD, you are getting a lot of watch for your money.
Timex Q Malibu 36mm
Price: $199 USD; Case: Stainless Steel, 36mm; Water Resistance: 50m; Movement: Quartz; Crystal: Acrylic.
If you are looking for something funky, fun, and that doesn’t break the bank, the Timex Q Malibu collection is a great place to start. The bracelet alternates between gold tones (either rose gold or yellow gold) and vibrant colors. And the bicolored bezels also add some vibrance. We personally like the rose gold and green variation, but you can’t go wrong with any choice. The Timex Q Malibu retails for $199 USD.
Longines Conquest Classic
Price: $825 or $975 USD; Case: Stainless Steel, 29.5mm or 34mm; Water Resistance: 50m or 300m; Movement: Swiss Quartz; Crystal: Sapphire.
Longines has been around for quite some time. Since 1832 to be exact. So it makes sense that their catalog is pretty expansive, and includes quite few women’s watches. And the Conquest Classic is a timeless favorite of ours. Available in 29.5mm or 34mm, the Conquest Classic is a great alternative to a Rolex Datejust or Oyster Perpetual at a mere fraction of the cost. There are two dial variations of the Conquest Classic. One is sportierer, with stick indexes and numbers at 12 and 6. The other only has stick hours markers. Both are great choices. Depending on the configuration, The Longines Conquest Classic will set you back $825 USD or $975 USD.
Casio G-Shock CasiOak GMAP2100SG2A
Price: $120 USD; Case: Resin, 40mm; Water Resistance: 200m; Movement: Quartz; Crystal: Mineral.
When G-Shock released the CasiOak in 2019 there was so much interest in the new line that you couldn’t even buy them (and they were selling well above retail on the secondary market). The watch features an octagonal bezel reminiscent of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak (hence the CasiOak nickname). And ever since its initial launch, G-Shock has been expanding the collection, with different colorways and materials. With women in mind, G-Shock launched the Ref. GMAP2100SG2A. It features a light purple case and strap and a purple gradation dial, apparently inspired by a sunset. At 40mm in diameter, it definitely is on the larger side for most women, but its still a fun watch wearable by anyone. You can pick it up for $120 USD.
Tsao Legacy 36
Price: $575 USD; Case: Rose Gold PVD Coated Stainless Steel, 36mm; Water Resistance: 200m; Movement: Japanese Automatic; Crystal: Sapphire.
There really is no need to differentiate between men’s and women’s watches. If something fits you and you like it, buy it. And indeed, the Tsao Legacy 36 is neither a men’s nor women’s watch. I even reviewed the watch in the past. The Legacy 36 fits in that sweet spot where it is wearable by both men and women. And the dial colors are bold and unique. Particularly, the Raven purple dial on the rose gold variation. Presumably named after the Baltimore Ravens and their purple colorway (the brand is based out of Baltimore), its a deep purple that should be appealing to both men and women alike. The Tsao Legacy 36 is currently available for $575 USD.
Bulova Sutton Classic
Price: $460 USD; Case: Stainless Steel, 35mm; Water Resistance: 30m; Movement: Automatic; Crystal: Sapphire.
Unfortunately, due to their inherently smaller size, a lot of women’s watches, particularly in the under $1,000 price-point, utilize quartz movements instead of automatic movements. Well, the Bulova Sutton is automatic and well below $1,000. It has a mother-of-pearl dial with diamond accents on 5 hour markers, as well as a display caseback. And while the watch doesn’t have a skeletonized dial, it is opened up just a little bit to see the balance wheel move while in action. You can pick up the Bulova Sutton Classic for $460 USD.
Citizen Bianca
Price: $300 USD; Case: Stainless Steel, 21.5mm; Water Resistance: 50m; Movement: Japanese Eco-Drive; Crystal: Sapphire.
In the women’s watches category, the Cartier Tank is among the most popular. But with a $3,000 retail price, it is obviously not fit for this list. However, if you want the same look for less, the Citizen Bianca is a great option. Like the Tank, the Bianca has a rectangular dial. And it is also is available on a stainless steel bracelet. The Citizen Bianca is available for $300 USD.
Christopher Ward The Twelve 36
Price: $995 USD; Case: Stainless Steel, 36mm; Water Resistance: 100m; Movement: Swiss Automatic; Crystal: Sapphire.
When it comes to value for your money, Christopher Ward stands above most. And The Twelve is one of my favorite recent integrated stainless steel sport watches (I recently reviewed the titanium version of The Twelve). However, if you are willing to forego the bracelet, the 36mm version of The Twelve is a great option for both women and men. at 36mm in diameter by 40.8mm lug-to-lug, most women won’t have to worry about this watch wearing “too large”. Plus, the finishing on any Christopher Ward timepiece is way above its price-point. You can pick up the Christopher Ward The Twelve 36 on rubber strap for $995 USD.
Baume & Mercier Baume 10604
Price: $700 USD; Case: Stainless Steel, 35mm; Water Resistance: 30m; Movement: Swiss Quartz; Crystal: Sapphire.
If you’re looking for something a little different, the Baume & Mercier Baume 10604 might be for you. The watch has a simple, almost Scandinavian, aesthetic. The slate grey sunray dial, has offset small seconds at 3 and a purple rehaut that gives it a little punch. At $700 USD it won’t break the bank either.
Seiko Presage Cocktail Time SRE007
Price: $550 USD; Case: Stainless Steel, 30.3mm; Water Resistance: 50m; Movement: Japanese Automatic; Crystal: Hardlex.
When looking for a watch under $1,000, or even under $500, I always suggest something from Seiko. Whether it’s a tool watch or something a little more formal, Seiko has a great selection of well-made watches that are also affordable. And among the brand’s more formal offerings, the Presage Cocktail Time collection is a personal favorite (for both men and women). Among their women’s offerings in this collection is the SRE007. This piece is 30mm in diameter, features an automatic movement, and 8 diamonds on the indexes. Offered in a slew of different colorways, the light blue dial might be my favorite. It retails for $550 USD.
Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot Auto
Price: $995 USD; Case: Stainless Steel, 36mm; Water Resistance: 100m; Movement: Swiss Automatic; Crystal: Sapphire.
When it comes to field and aviation watches under $1,000, Hamilton is probably the go-to brand. And their 36mm Khaki Aviation Pilot is the perfect pilot watch for women that want the style. Offered in multiple styles, the white dial, white strap version comes in just under $1,000. It retails for $995 USD.
Frederique Constant Slimline Ladies Small Seconds
Price: $950 USD; Case: Stainless Steel, 28mm; Water Resistance: 30m; Movement: Swiss Quartz; Crystal: Sapphire.
If you’re looking for a more traditional watch on leather strap, the Frederique Constant Slimline Ladies Small Seconds is a personal favorite. Featuring classy Roman numeral indexes and an a guilloche-pattern in the center of the dial, this watch is about as classic as it gets. It is 28mm in diameter and retails for $950 USD.
Certina DS Action 34.5mm
Price: $925 USD; Case: Stainless Steel, 34.5mm; Water Resistance: 300m; Movement: Swiss Automatic; Crystal: Sapphire.
You don’t see a lot of dive watches made specifically for women, but the Certina DS Action in 34.5mm is one that I really like. This watch has the traditional dive watch look of a Seiko or a Rolex with black dial and black unidirectional bezel. And, impressively, it has 300 meters of water resistance. So rest assured its the perfect watch to accompany you on your next scuba diving excursion. It retails for around $925 USD.
Raymond Weil Toccata
Price: $825 USD; Case: Stainless Steel, 29mm; Water Resistance: 50m; Movement: Swiss Quartz; Crystal: Sapphire.
Similar to the Frederique Constant I featured earlier, the Raymond Weil Toccata is a more traditional looking watch. But while the FC has a small seconds, the Raymond Weil is a two-hander (just hours and minutes). I do like that the formality of the watch is broken up with the royal blue metallic hands. This adds just a little bit of needed character to the watch. It retails for $825 USD.
