INTRODUCING: Yema Superman Bronze CMM.10 Limited Edition
To many, Yema is a little-known brand born in 1948 that operates out of the French Alps. However, you would be mistaken if you thought that the story stops there. Headquartered in Morteau, a small town just over the border from Le-Locle and La-Chaux-de-Fonds, Yema have been part of a growing and dynamic watchmaking ecosystem for years. Renowned for producing noticeably French designs, Yema have been supplying reliable and high-grade pieces to everyone: from the everyday enthusiast to members of France’s armed forces. Having had a relatively small reputation outside of their homeland, Yema are now taking their game to the next level: designing and building their own unique calibres, from Tourbillions to Micro-Rotors they have proved that they can do it, and maybe better than any of their competitors.

The Juice:
The Superman is an icon of the Yema range. A fantastic frame for many projects, the Superman has seen numerous different iterations and unique specifications. From the classic divers watch to a special edition GMT for the French Air Force, it’s done it all. This latest version, marks Yema’s transition to their new era of calibres, which from now on will equip all their watches.
The Superman Bronze CMM.10 Limited Edition comes with two distinct dial colors: a subtle and elegant lacqured black, or a deep blue gradient. Attention to detail, especially on the dial, is something that Yema excel at. The indices are painted on, with a bit of faux-tina for added effect and provide an extremely bright lume- exactly what you would expect from a very functional piece. The handset has been updated for this specific release, and now features a new sweep seconds hand that perfectly complements the sharp and modern feel of the rest of the watch.
The case is no different to any of the other Superman models. Carefully machined out of bronze, the level of finishing is exceptional. The bevelled edges attest to that attention to detail that Yema pride themselves with. The dive bezel melts seamlessly into the rest of the case, creating a homogenous and graceful look as it sits comfortably on any wrist. With the option for either a 39mm or 41mm case, it’ll suit anyone. Equipped with a large sapphire caseback, the new CMM.10 movement is displayed in all of its glory.
As the first watch to use the new Calibre Maison Morteau 10, it would be criminal not to talk about it at all. Yema have been making their own calibres for decades. Dedicated to designing and producing the whole assembly on their own, they have been investing significant amounts of time and effort into this project. And it would be an understatement to say that they have succeeded. The CMM.10’s good looks, prominent jewels, and highly finished plates obscure the movements incredible palmares: it boasts accuracy greater than most COSC movements, which is unheard of from pretty much any brand.
The Superman Bronze CMM.10 Limited Edition is quite limited in terms of strap option out of the box. Thankfully it comes on a Tropic FKM Viton Rubber strap that matches the dial color. These straps are incredibly easy to wear and super-durable, maintaining their crisp looks. The 19mm lug-width also makes it relatively easy to swap them out for one of Yema’s own NATO or leather straps, giving you plenty of versatility and choice.
When all is said and done, the Superman Bronze CMM.10 Limited Edition is the perfect showcase for Yema’s expertise, dedication, and craftsmanship. Whether it’s the suave look or the high-performance movement, this piece has got it all. And because it’s limited to 1,948 pieces per model, you’ll have to move fast if you want one. To everyone at Yema, Chapeau!
