INTRODUCING: The Patek Philippe Aquanaut Travel Time Quartz

THE JUICE:

When a brand produces a new colorway, it's exciting for horologists.  But when the new colorway has a myriad of features like dual time zone, and when the case is made of rose gold, it's a joyous occasion for the masses.  Such is the case for Patek Philippe's newest iteration of the Aquanaut.  The color is a deep and complex mixture of blue, grey, and perhaps even hints of green.  This color is emphasized via the textured globe shape that serves as the background of the dial, as well as matching texture on the composite strap.  The composite straps used in Aquanaut timepieces are highly resistant to wear, UV radiation, and salt water. As perhaps the perfect complement to this color, it is juxtaposed against the rose gold case, hour numerals, indices/minute markers, and crown.

Patek Philippe's globe-shaped dial background is a quintessential mark of the Aquanaut but it is especially fitting for this Travel Time model.  Similar to a GMT, the timepiece has a dual time representation by way of a second hollow white hour hand.  The word "HOME" is present at the 6 o'clock mark atop the Day/Night indicator for the home time zone.  The 5269R ticks to a dual time zone quartz movement.

The 20th colorway variant in the Patek Philippe’s current Aquanaut collection, the blue-grey of the 5269R is the most vibrant colorway in the rose gold case. This particular hue is not available with any other case or strap combination, as it is unique to this watch model only.

Through its design choices as well as its wide features for a deceptively complex timepiece; Patek Philippe once again set its bar high. The overall aesthetic of the Aquanaut is already impressive and the 5269R adds in subtle extras like the second hour hand and home day/night indicator l.
