The Hamilton Field Khaki x Far Cry 6 is Here - And It’s Actually Really Dope
If you’re even any kind of casual gamer, chances are you’ve played through some of the Far Cry games and their many many expansions. Or, if you’re a huge nerd like me, you’ve played through (ahem…) all of them. When it comes to character driven story telling mixed with ultra immersive action, nobody does it like Ubisoft in the Far Cry franchise. The latest installment is Far Cry 6 - and follows Dani Rojas, a guerilla fighter pitted against Anton Castillo (played by Giancarlo Esposito, remember him?) - the tyrannical President of the fictional country of Yara.
In the game, Dani is gifted a watch from the leader of the Rebellion. That watch, is of course, the Hamilton Field Khaki x Far Cry 6. And now, you too can own one of these limited edition watches.

THE JUICE:
Hamilton has been involved in a number of projects in Hollywood. They produced the “Smurph” from Interstellar, and the BeLOW Zero for Tenet. This is the first time, to my knowledge anyway, that a specific watch has been designed and released alongside a AAA Title Video Game.
The watch itself doesn’t differ too much from many standard Field Khaki models. It’s 42mm, titanium, features the H-10 and standard dial layout. The core difference in the Hamilton Field Khaki ‘Far Fry 6’ Limited Edition is the stylization of the dial. It’s aged, features the ‘6’ indices from the games, and also a cool treatment that gives the watch an almost animated aesthetic - think like a video game.
In the game, the watch features its own mission set to collect it from a thief. Once dispatched, the watch provides perks called ‘Keeps on Ticking’ that reduces Dani’s damage while sprinting - making it a true tool watch in the virtual world too - which I suppose was a large part of the collaboration to begin with - a sort of learned attachment.
Overall, the watch is fairly cool, if mostly standard fare for the brand. The jump from video games into high end fashion is starting to get more traction as time goes on. We saw the integration of North Face x Gucci into Pokémon Go! Last year, and recently Fortnite announced a collaboration with Balenciaga - because of course they did. We’ve even seen the release of heavily inspired cosmetic watches in the uber-popular Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone (I may not see a crown, but we all know that’s a Submariner). In the ever growing micro-transaction driven video game space, watches have plenty of space to grow virtually - which I think lends more space for them to grow from virtual to physical if enough of an emotional response can be generated - and if anything can get a player emotionally attached to a character item, it’d be in the Far Cry franchise.
As a fan of both video games, and watches I can’t help but be excited about the idea that we will see more of this in the future. I mean, is it really that weird? If DJ Snake can releases a $30,000 Hublot, can we not allow space for virtual characters to influence Limited Edition watches? I think we totally can.
How Much is the Hamilton x Far Cry 6 Limited Edition?
Far Cry 6 will be released October 7 and the watch is supposed to be available online the same day. It’s limited to 1983 pieces (for the year of the watch in the game) and carry a fairly hefty price tag of $1,195 USD.
