The 20 Best Oris Watches to Buy in 2024

Best Oris Watches

Oris is a independent Swiss watch brand that we at Wrist Enthusiast really love. The watchmaker traces its beginnings to the early 1900s when it was founded in Hölstein, Switzerland by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian after they bought the Lohner & Co watch factory that had recently shut down. They got the name Oris from a nearby stream and since then the brand has developed and grown due to Cattin’s and Christian’s early foundations. The two were dedicated to their business and their employees, and showed this by building housing apartments near the factories to boost employment and to provide easy access to work. They even provided health insurance for their employees amongst other benefits. By 1911, Oris had become the largest employer in Hölstein due to Cattin' and Christian’s efforts. Today, Oris continues to give back to their community and the world around them by incorporating sustainable methods to their watch productions as well as taking care to produce some of the best Swiss watches with their expertise, precision and efficiency. They’re great at collaborating with organizations to boost their humanitarian efforts while also adding versatility to their successful collections. They offer a wide variety of timepieces from pilot watches to dive watches and everyday dress watches. Indeed, the craftsmanship and value for the money makes Oris watches extremely attractive. So, we’ve put together a list of our favorite 20 mechanical watches from Oris to help you choose the right one for you.

Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 Laser

Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 Laser

Price: $5,200 USD; Case Size: 39mm; Water Resistance: 100m; Movement: Automatic; Crystal: Sapphire.

One of Oris’ most loved collections is their ProPilot X Calibre 400 series and now they’ve thrown a new model in the mix that is getting great reviews. Making its debut at Dubai Watch Week 2023, the Laser is a technological innovation with its iridescent dial created using a state-of-the-art laser cutting technique (in addition to its in-house movement). The laser cutting plays with the surface of the titanium dial and manipulates light so that only certain colors are reflected, which is what gives off this iridescent blue, green, and violet effect. The brand worked closely with ETH Zürich University in Switzerland to develop the cool technique and it is the first time it’s seen on a watch. We think Oris is successful with this undertaking, and it fits with the aesthetic of the rest of the collection. The watch is available for $5,200 USD. You can check out our hands-on review of the Oris ProPilot X Laser here.

Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 Kermit

Oris ProPilot X Kermit

Price: $4,600 USD; Case Size: 39mm; Water Resistance: 100m; Movement: Automatic; Crystal: Sapphire.

Oris is not shy to play around with their popular ProPilot X Calibre 400 collection. They take their role seriously about creating some of the best mechanical Swiss watches but also enjoy adding joy and fun to their pieces. Back in March of 2023 they introduced the ProPilot X Calibre 400 Kermit fully inspired by Kermit the frog from The Muppets. So, of course it has a bright green dial set in the 39mm titanium case. You even get a glimpse of Kermit himself in the date window at 6 o’clock the first of every month, representing “Kermit Day,” a day meant to inspire the pleasures of life a little more than usual. We like this piece with its subtle collaboration so that the watch can still be worn every day without Kermit overpowering the piece. It is currently unavailable but retailed for $4,600 USD .

Oris ProPilot X Calibre 115

Price: $8,000 USD; Case Size: 44mm; Water Resistance: 100m; Movement: Manual; Crystal: Sapphire.

For this piece it’s all in the calibre 115 manual movement and Oris gives us the full experience by putting the movement on full display from front and back of the watch. The power packed into the manual movement is profound at 10 days of juice (240 hours of power-reserve)! Oris fully utilizes the skeletonized dial by putting an open barrel at 12 o’clock, which displays the mainspring of the power reserve. There is also a non-linear power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock—Oris-developed and patented. If you loved the Oris ProPilot X Calibre 110 you’ll certainly love the Calibre 115 (it truly is a thing of beauty). It retails for $8,000 USD and is also available on strap.

Oris Aquis X Bracenet

Price: $2,600 USD; Case Size: 36.5mm & 43.5mm; Water Resistance: 300m; Movement: Crystal: Sapphire.

One of the things we love and appreciate about Oris—outside of their innovations and mechanics—is their drive in sustainability. They are a brand that gives back and cares for the environment. It’s not just about greenwashing campaigns for them, but a genuine global change towards sustainability. Whenever possible they opt for recycled or upcycled materials rather than new ones and they partner with other organizations with the same goals and missions in sustainability. The Oris Aquis X Bracenet is a great example of their ecofriendly goals. Bracenet is a German organization focused on cleaning up our oceans. This collaboration has created a gorgeous dial for the Oris Aquis collection. The dials are made from the abandoned fishing nets collected across oceans by Bracenet. The nets are melted down and cooled to create the dials, which produces a cool green, blue, white blend. Each dial varies due to the custom nature of how the nets melt and cool. No additional glues or additives are used in the process to ensure the utmost sustainability. The watch is available in two sizes so more people can enjoy these cool creations. The watch retails for $2,600 USD in both 36.5mm and 43.5mm.

 Oris Aquis Pro 4000M

Price: $6,200 USD; Case Size: 49.5mm; Water Resistance: 4000m; Movement: Automatic; Crystal: Sapphire.

During Geneva Watch Days in 2023 Oris introduced their Oris Aquis Pro 4000m. A hefty and well-equipped dive watch with 4,000 meters of water resistance! The piece is a beast. The case is 49.5mm and made of titanium to give it a lighter feel. The strap is made with a security folding clasp extension to accommodate the large case size, making it easily adjustable while diving and wearing the watching. The 4000m and 120-hour power reserve will keep you going to the far depths of the ocean or a casual swim on the surface, whatever your mood is for the day. We love the blue details on this as it really embodies the water. From the wave dial pattern and the blue rubber strap to the blue highlights on the unidirectional rotating bezel. This is a great option for anyone who loves the ocean as there aren’t many better watches out there fore serious divers. The piece is currently unavailable but was priced at $6,200 USD.

Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400 Two-Tone

The stainless steel piece with emerald dial features a matching green bezel with an 18k yellow gold turning top ring. The two-tone steel and gold features enhances the green wonderfully and elevates the look and feel of the piece. It’s not just about the looks for this watch though. Bronze is a prevalent metal used across Oris’ collections. Its durable, corrosion resistant (especially great for dive watches), and forms a beautiful patina over time. The Divers Sixty-Five collection in general has become a fan favorite when it comes to Oris timepieces. The style is fun, retro, and classic. The Divers Sixty-Five Date Bronze continues to add to this vintage feel with its oversized crown, smoky black dial and gold details and with time it will only look better! It’s also a nice balance to the more colorful Cotton Candy colorways for those who might want a more subtle look.  Oris Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph

Price: $4,400 USD; Case Size: 40mm; Water Resistance: 100m; Movement: Automatic; Crystal: Sapphire.

A Chronograph within the Divers Sixty-Five collection is a nice touch to add more variety to an already loved collection. And Oris does it with great style. The monochrome piece appeals to the eye and although chronograph functions might not always be a popular choice for a dive watch this one is great because you don’t have to be anywhere near water to enjoy it. The piece still maintains the aesthetic Oris fans love and pays homage to the diver’s watches of the 50s and 60s that many watch collectors appreciate. They still find a way to hold true to their vintage inspiration while adding modern functions and style. The watch is available for $4,400 USD.
