French President Emmanuel Macron's Watch Collection
At Wrist Enthusiast we have featured the watches of many American Politicians, including current President Joe Biden, former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, as well other former presidents. Well it’s not just American presidents that have pretty interesting watch collections. Emmanuel Macron, President of France, also has been seen wearing some pretty interesting pieces. Many of the brands he has been seen wearing are actually pretty affordable and local to his home country. And yes, we know he has also been in the news for allegedly wearing a very expensive watch at a press conference. We will get into that, and let you know what is in Macron’s watch collection. So what watch does Emmanuel Macron wear? Read on to find out.
Emmanuel Macron’s Bell and Ross BR V1-92
Macron caused a stir when he was recently spotted wearing a luxury watch at a press conference that miraculously “disappeared” during the course of the press conference. Social media (and TikTok) went wild stating that Macron was wearing an $80,000 luxury watch, specifically an F.P. Journe Chronometre Bleu. People were especially enraged as Macron wearing this high-end watch coincided with mass protests against France’s pension reforms.
However, it turns out that Macron was not wearing an $80,000 USD F.P. Journe after all. Macron was wearing a much more affordable Bell & Ross BR V1-92. Like the Chronometre Bleu, the Bell & Ross features a blue dial. Macron’s Bell & Ross, however, has been customized by the brand to include the Coat of Arms of the Presidency just above 6 o'clock. Macron has actually been spotted wearing this watch previously on multiple occasions. It is unclear why he felt the need to remove the watch midway through his press conference, but this obviously made him look even more tone deaf and guilty of wearing a very expensive timepiece. So how much does Macron’s watch cost? The Bell & Ross BR V1-92 retails for $2,600 USD from Bell & Ross.
Emmanuel Macron’s Awake Concept G7 La Bleue PR19BK001U
We at Wrist Enthusiast have been big fans of the young French watch brand Awake Concept. We especially like their newest lineup the Mission to Earth. You can even read our review the Mission to Earth and Mission to Earth Nightful here. On top of that, the new Mission to Earth: Time Travelers is a reasonably price meteorite dial watch option that ticks all the boxes. Beyond being a an up-and-coming watch brand that is innovating in the space, the brand also has a mission of sustainability, using eco-friendly materials and manufacturing processes. Likewise, Macron has made sustainability a large part of his policy.
This mission of sustainability is such a big part of Awake Concept’s identity that it caught the eye of the French President. In 2019, Macron actually presented a special edition Awake Concept to members of the G7. The Awake Concept G7 La Bleue features a 38 mm case made from recycled fishing nets and a bracelet produced from recycled plastic bottles. The watch even runs on a Japanese solar movement. While the watch is now sold out, having the president wear your watch is a big deal and shows that Awake Concept is a serious brand dedicated to keeping the Earth clean.
Emmanuel Macron’s MARCH LA.B AM69
MARCH LA.B is another interesting watch brand based out of France. Recently the brand has been pivoting to a bit of the higher end, opting for Swiss automatic and quartz movements (previously their watches used Japanese movements). While they are a little bit more expensive, at between $600 USD and $1,800 USD they still are good value with some interesting design elements. Macron has been spotted wearing the MARCH LA.B AM69 Electric. The AM69 Electric is a smaller 36mm dress watch that features a Swiss Ronda 517 quartz movement. At around $520 USD, it’s a pretty affordable option for those hoping to emulate Macron.
Emmanuel Macron’s MARCH LA.B Dandy Mansart Electric Forest
Macron apparently is a big fan of MARCH LA.B as he has a second piece in his collection. Macron has been spotted wearing the MARCH LA.B Dandy Mansart Electric Forest. This piece has an interesting square case that with many facets and a stunning green sunray dial. While the watch is only 30mm in diameter, it wears larger due to the square case. The watch is currently sold out, but it retails for just over $1,000 USD.
Emmanuel Macron’s Merci LMM-01
Clearly Macron has a preference for French watch brands. And that makes sense for the French President. Well Merci isn’t exactly a watch brand, but they do produce watches. Merci is actually a concept store / department store in France where you can buy a lot more than watches. The Merci LMM-01 is an attractive, if a little bit simple, field watch. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it in size (38mm), dial or any other specs. The watch runs on a reliable Swiss Made Sellita SW210-1 automatic movement that is well-regarded. Price for the Merci LMM-01 is a reasonable 590 Euro.
Emmanuel Macron’s Longines DolceVita L5.655.4.71.2
Macron has also been spotted wearing another luxury Swiss watch, the Longines DolceVita. The the large Roman Numeral hour markers may remind many of the the same on a Cartier Tank or Santos and indeed the DolceVita is a good option for those that want a rectangular watch without spending the money on a Cartier. We even featured a variation of the watch on our Best Rectangle Watches list. The Longines DolceVita Ref. L5.655.4.71.2 retails for $1,225 USD.
