INTRODUCING: The Girard-Perregeaux Neo Bridges Aston Martin Edition

Founded in 1791, Girard-Perregeaux have been pioneers of the High Horology sector of the industry, with their creations reaching new heights at every release. Famous for their Laureato sports watch, which is possibly one of the market references when it comes to versatile and striking designs. Their Triple Bridge collection is an industry reference for high-horology designs and is loved by enthusiasts and collectors because of its unique and timeless look. Fervent and proud innovators, GP don’t stand still and continuously strive to create something revolutionary.

The shared passion for innovation is the basis for this partnership between Girard-Perregeaux and British sportscar manufacturer, Aston Martin. Famous for their gorgeous designs, that have been capturing the hearts and minds of automobile enthusiasts since 1913, Aston Martin have constantly been at the cutting edge of technology. Having recently released the Valkyrie Hypercar, they took their game to the next level by entering a team into the Formula 1 World Championship, which is widely regarded as the pinnacle of technological mastery in their industry. With all of this in mind, it’s not surprising that two brands of identical calibre would bridge the gap between their industries and display the product of their shared ‘savoir-faire’. Let’s see what it’s all about.

The Juice:

Having previously partnered on exclusive green ceramic Laureatos, Aston Martin and Girard-Perregeaux are yet again collaborating on a watch. This time, though, the influence of the prestigious car manufacturer extends a lot further than just the color and a logo- it has been developed by engineers and designers on both sides of the partnership. Inspired by the release of Aston Martin’s next generation of super cars, which starts with the DB12, the Girard-Perregeaux is a really unique piece, let’s get straight into it…

Starting at the business end of the Neo Bridges Aston Martin Edition, which some could call the dial, we’ve got two Aston Martin green bridges that draw your attention in immediately. This style is inherited from the classic Triple Bridge design that Girard-Perregeaux are renowned for. Reworked with AM for a new, dynamic, and modern feel at the cutting edge of watch making technology is exactly what’s happening here. The rest of the front-end is relatively subtle but doesn’t compromise on the usual level of high-finishing that GP pride themselves with.

The case on the GP Neo Bridges AM Edition is machined out of Titanium and covered with a black DLC finish to protect from any scratches or knocks. This really makes the dial and bridge elements stand out against this dark background. Furthermore, the titanium offsets the weight of the large dimensions of the piece, which still sits comfortably on the wrist due its 12mm thickness. The large sapphire crystal in the case back, which has been engraved with the Aston Martin logo, lets you feast your eyes on a beautifully finished movement.

Starting from the back with the Côtes de Genève, the black plates make the rubies and other metal parts pop out. Moving round to the front end, the escapement is unmissable in its 6 o’clock position, the gear train is discreetly exposed behind the second bridge, the barrel and micro-rotor (which have been engraved with Aston Martin and Girard-Perrgeaux, mimicking the brakes on a sportscar) take centre stage at the 10 and 1 o’clock positions. The movement, despite its complexity, is remarkably thin and only comes in at 5.45mm.

This piece comes on black rubber strap that has been moulded with a fabric print. Paired with green stitching that matches the bridges and accents on the dial, this strap gives the watch a dynamic and sporty feel.

All in all, this piece from Girard-Perregeaux is a brilliant exhibition of inter-industry collaboration, showcasing the influences other expertise and design languages can have on the watch world. Limited to only 250 pieces, this watch will definitely be in high demand.
