INTRODUCING: The H. Moser & Cie Streamliner Small Seconds with Microrotor

Ever since the Streamliner was first introduced in 2020, H. Moser & Cie has had what I believe is one of the best stainless steel sport watches on the market. And since the release, Moser has been building out the collection, offering the Streamliner with multiple dial colors and complications. Now, with the release of the new Streamliner Small Seconds with microrotor, Moser for the first time is offering the Streamliner at at under 40mm (39mm to be exact).

THE JUICE:

Perhaps I’m biased, but the Streamliner Small Seconds is one of my favorite releases from Dubai Watch Week. Sizing the watch down from 40mm to 39mm may not seem to much, but it actually makes the watch wearable for those of us with smaller wrists. This is also probably due to the fact that the watch has a microrotor movement, allowing it to be 10.9mm thick (the previous time-only streamliner was 12mm thick).

Beyond the size change and the new microrotor movement, the real star of the show is the aqua blue fumé "Grand Feu" enamel dial. Moser is probably best known for their fumé dials, and the dial on the Streamliner Small Seconds takes the watch to the next level. Moser used a hammering technique to add texture to the dial and it really shines. Every part of the dial, besides the seconds subdial at 6 o’clock, has been meticulously hammered. It adds a great deal of visual interest on a dial that lacks a logo or any writing.

The new in-house calibre HMC 500 is the brand’s smallest movement of recent date and can be seen through the watch’s display caseback. It has a very modern finish, in line with Moser’s other movements. In contrast to the rest of the movement, the micro-rotor is made of solid platinum and has a lighter finish.

Overall, Moser really hit it out of the park with this release. Under 40mm is the sweet spot for integrated bracelet sport watches right now, and Moser now has a piece that can compete with the Royal Oak and other luxury offerings. Hopefully, Moser will release the watch in other colors, and even precious metal in the near future.
