INTRODUCING: The Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu Sapphire
Since 1980, Hublot has been capturing hearts and minds as one of the most dynamic and interesting brands in the industry. Their first design, the Fusion, was the first to combine gold with a rubber strap, shunning the decades-old traditions and design codes. Guided by innovation, they are the cutting-edge of material technology in the horological industry. Over the last decade, they have manipulated elements such as Sapphire or even created their own such as Saxem. Innovation isn’t just limited to materials at Hublot, they’re also masters of horological engineering and have produced some mind-blowing complications. As an avant-garde brand, Hublot promotes collaboration with other creative spirits outside of their industry. For the last 8 years, they have been collaborating with Maxime Pleschia, an artist and tattooist, and his brand Sang Bleu. Let’s see what this new Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu Sapphire is all about.

The Juice:
Preceded by the 2016 Big Bang, and the 2023 Spirit of Big Bang, the 2024 Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu Sapphire is by far the most impressive collaboration between Maxime Pleschia and Hublot. The artist’s creative style flows through every aspect of the watch, from the case to the movement.
The Spirit of Big Bang’s distinctive barrel-shaped case has been given the ultimate upgrade by Hublot. As previously mentioned, Hublot are the masters of sapphire in the industry, using their cutting-edge technology to make some of the most impressive watches. Sapphire is definitely their most highly regarded material, and for a watch to be given a sapphire case is particularly significant. Maxime Pleschia’s influence can be felt throughout the case with the plethora of sharp edges and facets that construct this iconic barrel shape. Whilst it sits at a rather large 42mm, the case was designed to fit everyone’s wrists, as they don’t want to restrict access to this wonderful work of art. As we all know, sapphire is incredibly hard and scratch-resistant, so there is no risk of damage to the case: Hublot’s sapphire has diamond-like hardness.
Hublot are famous for its out-of-this-world complications, but going back to basics with an automatic chronograph movement couldn’t have been a better choice. The fully skeletonized movement embraces Maxime Pleschia’s geometric patterns to create a unique time display, that doesn’t compromise Hublot’s distinct and iconic style that you can find on all their pieces. The fully sapphire case obviously means that the movement is just as visible from behind as it is from the front.
Finding a strap that complements the sapphire case is incredibly hard, but Hublot have absolutely nailed it with this translucent white rubber strap. Equipped with their proprietary click system, you’ll be able to swap the strap out almost instantly, giving the watch a whole new look.
The Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu Sapphire is yet another fantastic collaboration with Maxime Pleschia, possibly their best one so far. Demonstrating their ability to combine craftsmanship, technology, and art Hublot have really knocked it out of the park with this limited run of 100 pieces- the competition will definitely be fierce for this one.
So how much does the Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu Sapphire cost?
