Introducing the New Oris Divers Date

Earlier in the year, during Watches & Wonders to be exact, Oris unveiled a revamped Aquis collection, their modern diver. So I guess it makes sense that just 6 months later, the brand would update their other diver, the Divers Sixty Five. With this update, the Diver Sixty Five gets a modern-ish update and a name change, to the Divers Date. It’s a great evolution of Oris’ vintage inspired dive watch, and I am a big fan.

THE JUICE:

So, let’s get this out of the way. Yes, the Divers Date is more modern than the Divers Sixty Five. But it is still recognizable, and the collection keeps most of the vintage inspirations that made the Divers Sixty Five so great. Instead, you get subtle changes that just make the watch more wearable and just an all around better looking watch.

The metal bracelet has been upgraded, including additional polishing, as well as it feeling a bit more solid. And Oris has added a quick change system to the bracelet (and strap), making it very easy to switch between the two. Which is a good thing because Oris has included both a stainless steel bracelet and rubber strap with every Divers Date.

Additionally, the dial and case has also been updated. The dial gets a new font, as well additional polishing and beveling of the hour markers. It’s nice to see a brand like Oris, in the more affordable category, paying such close attention to even the smallest details. As a watch collector, it really makes me appreciate Oris’ value proposition.

Additionally, the Oris Calibre 733 (based on the Sellita SW200-1) has also been upgraded. The power reserve has been extended from 38 to 41 hours. I would argue that nobody would complain if Oris decided to keep the power reserve the same. But the fact that they are working to make even the smallest upgrade speaks volumes. The water resistance has also been doubled, from 100 meters to 200 meters. This makes the watch a true diver, and is an update that is much needed for a modern diver.

how much is the Oris Divers Date watch?
