Introducing the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Minute Rattrapante
We have been wowed ever since the original release of the Tonda collection. A subtle yet elegant addition to the sport watch category, Parmigiani has made sure to pay close attention to the collection, making incremental additions to the lineup over the past couple of years. Last year the brand wowed us with the Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante, a GMT with a rattrapante hand that acted as the local time time zone. When not in use, the local hour hand catches up with the home time hand and hides (hence it being a rattrapante). With the Tonda PF Minute Rattrapante, the brand has superimposed a minutes hand (as opposed to a GMT hour hand).
The Tonda PF Minute Rattrapante features two minutes hands, one rhodium plated which indicates the real time, while the other in rose gold calculating the minutes on demand. The 8 o’clock pusher advances the hand by 5 minutes while the 10 o’clock pusher advances the hand by one minute. The rattrapante minutes hand can be hidden under the real time minutes by pressing the pusher integrated in the crown.

The Juice:
It seems Parmigiani realizes it has an incredibly good thing going with the Tonda collection and wants to keep pushing the envelope in terms of technical innovation within the collection. Other brands such as Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe have successfully done the same thing with the Royal Oak and Nautilus lines so who are we to complain? We reviewed the Tonda GT Chronograph and came across impressed all around.
Beyond the innovative Minute Rattrapante functionality, the watch fits neatly into the Tonda lineup. The Sandy Grey dial, as Parmigiania calls it, is subdued but sophisticated. Like its counterparts in the collect, the grain d’orge hand-guilloché dial is purposefully minimalistic, with only the hour markers and PF logo present on the dial. For some watches this may be too bare, but it works for the Tondas. With the guilloche dial and fluted bezel capturing a lot of attention, there no need for any other embellishments on the dial.
The bracelet is another highlight of this piece, and the Tonda in general. The integrated bracelet flows seamlessly into the case and lugs of the watch, showcasing true attention to detail and creating a cohesive piece.
