INTRODUCING: The Roger Dubuis Excaliber Titanium Monotourbillon

Roger Dubuis is a luxury Manufacture located in Geneva—the heart of watchmaking. Founded in 1995 the fully integrated Manufacture produces all their pieces in house and have created 33 exclusive mechanic calibres since its inception. The mission of Roger Dubuis was to push all bounds in haute horology and produce timepieces that both honor intricate mechanics as well as showcase Avant-garde designs. This has allowed the brand to be renowned specialists in architectural skeletonized movements. At the center of Roger Dubuis’ values is the art of storytelling. This is seen through the Maison’s elaborate watches as well as their events, showcases, and retail stores. The brand works to awaken all senses in everything they do.

The iconic Excalibur collection was first introduced in 2005 with two editions, the world premiere double tourbillon skeleton (RD01SQ) and minute repeater tourbillon (RD08). Since then, the Manufacture has further developed and grown the Excalibur collection with an array of innovative complication and design upgrades. At Watches & Wonders 2024 Roger Dubuis unveils a handful of new additions to the Excalibur collection. Here, we dive a little deeper into the latest Excalibur Titanium Monotourbillon.

THE JUICE:

The Excalibur Titanium Monotourbillon is minimal in design compared to other pieces in the Excalibur collection and light and comfortable in wear due to the titanium case and bracelet. This is the second timepiece crafted in titanium for Roger Dubuis. Although this piece has a more minimal approach, there is still so much about it that makes it an opulent Roger Dubuis watch. The dial is a fully skeletonized open work design. The intricacies of the complication are on full display, yet the structure of the complication is clean and minimal allowing time to stand out on the piece. The high level of manufacturing allows the monotourbillon to sit at 7 o’clock, a distinctive position also found in other Excalibur monotourbillon pieces across the collection. The complication is distinguished by its flying tourbillon cage construction, built from 63 components, and yet remains minimal so the wearer can take each part in without being overwhelmed. The lower cages have also been crafted from titanium enhancing the lightness and craftsmanship of the piece. The upper bridge is inspired by the Celtic Cross. The mounting of it on one side without the addition of a supporting bridge showcases the delicate works of the watchmakers at the Maison.

We love the minimal outlook for this lightweight timepiece. We know that Roger Dubuis has set its watches apart with their Avant-garde skeleton designs that appear in an array of fun colors and complications, and it’s just as exciting receiving something low key and minimal from the Manufacture. It adds to their versatility and opens up more options for enthusiasts. It’s also great that Roger Dubuis has added a second titanium watch to their collections.
