The New U-Boat Darkmoons with Camouflage and Vintage Cases

We recently reviewed the U-Boat Darkmoon and Capsoil and came away impressed with the unique new line from the Italian watch brand. Well the brand participated in this year’s Watches & Wonders and released a slew of new Darkmoon options, including two of our favorites the Darkmoon Vintage BR Curve Black and the Darkmoon Grey Curve Camouflage. Both watches feature both interest dials and new case materials that add some fun to the already established Darkmoon collection.

THE Juice:

We have already expressed our appreciation for the Darkmoon series. We find it to be an accessible watch in terms of price and style, with many unique attributes. The Darkmoon Vintage BR Curve Brown features a very nice IP bronze-treated case that gives the watch that perfect patinaed look, without you actually having to wait for it to patina or worry about your wrist turning green. This is done through multiple layers of paint, giving it that bronze look without actually being made of bronze

The bronze colored case pairs very well with a dark sand/bronze dial that has a gradient affect around the perimeter. This watch fits the mold of the brooding, military watch we’ve come to expect from U-BOAT but in their more accessible Darkmoon line.

With the Darkmoon Grey Curve Camouflage, the brand was a little more daring, pairing a grey dial with a PVD case painted with a camouflage pattern. While this case decoration might not be for everyone, it is not over the top and fits the watch well (perhaps the lack of a bezel makes it less assertive).

We love the grey dial on the Darkmoon Curve Camouflage and hope the brand sees fit to put the dial in some of their other steel and PVD cases.

As with any darkmoon, you get the oil filled dial which is really a delight to the eye, giving the dial colors a bit more vividness and clarity. The signature bubble is still present, and it almost becomes a game or fidget device playing around with it.
