The Juice:
Patek created some waves back in 2020 with the release of the 6007a. It was a bold step towards a bit more of a sporty watch outside of the Nautilus. While many loved it, many felt it didn’t do the Calatrava justice. Well, Patek Philippe has doubled down and released the 6007G in Red, Yellow, and Blue. It provides quite a splash of color to a fairly unique dial design from the brand. Like the 6007a, the case measures in at 40mm x 9mm with a less than stellar water resistance rating of 30 meters, but really, who’s swimming with this anyway? The dial is stamped with a “grid” texture, and I’m already seeing complaining about it being stamped as opposed to hand-engraved, but I find that point ridiculous. The references utilizing those engraving methods are far more expensive than the 5007g.
Patek Philippe has opted for a newer movement with the caliber 26-330 S C. The movement was utilized in the Nautilus while it was still around, beats at 4-Hz, and features a 45-hour power reserve. It’s a modest upgrade for a simple 3 hand watch with date.
Let’s face it, at this point, anything Patek Philippe releases that looks more modern than old-worldy is going to face stark criticism. Enthusiasts tend to think of Patek as traditionalists (Unless we’re talking about the Nautilus) and will find something to gripe about with the 6007g. I get it, it’s something different out of the brand’s catalogue, but it’s a bold step into the modern enthusiasts desires. And lets face it, this won’t have a problem selling out anyway - It is Patek Philippe after all. So lets let bygones be bygones, and allow for Patek to splash some color on a new model and be okay with it.
So, How much is the new Patek Philippe Calatrava 6007g?
