Moser Releases the Worlds First Invisible Watch? Introducing the H. Moser Blacker Than Black.

To say that H. Moser and Cie has a blatant history of absolutely trolling the watch industry would be a criminal understatement. From a watch made entirely out of Cheese, to a Home Depot Garden Center, the brand has absolutely garnered a reputation for the absurd. Recently dipping their toe’s into the Vantablack sector with the Endeavor Small Seconds Total Eclipse, and even before that with the Venturer Concept Vanta Black, Moser has apparently decided “Why stop at the dial?”

Let’s start with how Moser has introduced this watch to Watches and Wonders. Set against a “deep black” backdrop, the watch sits about 9 inches into the middle of it. At first glance, you literally won’t see anything at all. If you look closely, a handset pops out against it. And really, if you don’t look to the side of the glass case, you still won’t see more than a handset.

This is because H. Moser has taken the streamliner case and dial, and completely bonded a Vantablack agent to it. What’s VantaBlack? It’s a black that’s so intense it blocks over 99% of light that comes into contact with it.

I guess, what would be a critical watch trade show without some weird concoction H. Moser has crafted up. Overall, I can’t imagine what this watch will look like on a wrist, of even if it’s a material that can even make skin-contact without the wearer being sucked into an Abyss. Better yet, perhaps the wearer will have a floating hand against the right backdrop?

I don’t know. Either way, the watch is super unique, and definitely comes attached to the brand’s innate ability to surprised and mystify it’s audience. Bravo for producing something very, VERY different while still maintaining the overall DNA of the brand.
