INTRODUCING: The Oris Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph

Despite already having a deep catalogue, Oris never fails to keep their offerings fresh - just part of the reason fans of the brand are excited to come back time and time again. This new addition to their storied ‘Divers’ line is no exception. The addition of a chronograph represents the first non-date complication in the line, which I believe fans of the Oris Divers collection will appreciate.  Hopefully, this won’t be the last variation on the classic Divers aesthetic that we’ll see from Oris.

THE JUICE:

The Oris Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph is a fresh modernization of their beloved Divers Sixty-Five collection. These heritage-inspired pieces are Oris’ homage to their popular mid-century dive watches, prominent in the 1950’s and 60’s. The addition of a chronograph to this line is no surprise, as Oris continues to innovate across all their dive-style offerings - even producing a ‘Pro’ Aquis rated to a staggering 4000 meters.

Housed in an impossibly sleek 40mm case, the wearability and functionality of this watch are undeniable. The 30-minute chronograph as well as a fully graduated, unidirectional dive bezel gives wearers the option to time separate events. The case and dial are very understated and manage to provide a unique look to the watch. The chronograph pushers definitely help provide the heritage-inspired look that Oris tried to achieve here. This watch is absolutely excellent for daily wear, with a sporty yet reserved look that can be dressed up or down with ease. I’ve never been a ‘one-watch-collection’ kind of guy, but, especially with both strap options, I could easily see someone wearing this as their only piece.

Oris takes their dive pieces seriously, and this is just another example of that commitment. This watch represents an evolution to an already deep collection from Oris. The addition of a chronograph to a line that has, historically, only offered time and date should be a welcome update by collectors. I just hope that it means we can look forward to additional complications being added to the line in the future.
